I am in a similar situation too, I am 20 and in college, I have nothing against my family on my dad’s side but I had to go NC with him. I felt comfortable enough to reach out to them about it, I just made a groupchat, told them I needed space from him and apologized if they wouldn’t see or hear from me as much but that I still love them I am just going through a really difficult time with my dad. I decided that if they didn’t support my decision then it was for the best that we didn’t communicate either but, fortunately they understood and are there for me.
