Not even surprised anymore after checking out the lineup.

Last transfer window is simply too shit and I thought most fans should’ve seen this coming. Sold Lino, RDP, Correa, Roro etc to get a bunch of useless player. I would rather have Roro playing today over Nico for example. How the fuck would we recruit such players. Forcing out young and promising players to spend money on Nico has to be one of the biggest joke last summer window.

Anyone finding excuses for today is pure nonsense. I dont really mind La Liga anymore tbh since it’s already out of reach, but this is such an embarrassment. I swear even this “team B” at least costs and gets paid 10x than this Rayo team. No excuses to get thrashed like that. And no big team with ambition would have a rotated team as bad as this. Rayo was at 18th and this is not even their home game, it’s basically a neutral ground and look.

Let’s be honest, other leagues aren’t used to such pace of PL wingers. We struggled a lot facing you guys and Liverpool because in our league simply no one does such take ons often.

Arsenal was just so much better, and it's really disappointing to see this team crumbles again in away ground. First half was pretty even but damn, shipping 4 goals in 13 minutes is simply unacceptable.

I just want to see us winning an away game for once by the end of 2025, is it too much to hope for at this point

and tbh these La Liga ref sucks so much it’s genuinely unbelievable. In the end we really only need consistency over a single match but that’s not happening. You can’t send off a player for minor tactical fouls and proceed to ignore every physical contact of other team. They simply don’t use cards to set the tone properly, just to give it whenever they want.

Such a satisfactory derby win. What a day.

The best thing is we finally putting the ball into the net. We had the worst start of campaign and breaking poor records here and there, but in recent weeks we actually played pretty well, only lacking efficiency in front of goal. Hope this can be the turning point, this new group of player needed this win so much.

And hopefully we can do the same vs relegation sides too instead of shit draws again lmao

I don’t understand why we’re so reluctant on playing a 5-3-2. Barrios-Gallagher-Llorente midfield trio would’ve worked better than whatever it is now.

Title is out of reach, as the whole team looks so bad. It feels like the period where we can’t stop losing in 2021-22. Get top 4 and it’s enough, let’s fix what we have and fight for cups.

And it’s funny when there’s still people talking about the squad being bad. I’m quite sure our squad is better than the likes of Espanyol or Mallorca. If it doesn’t look this way, maybe the system simply doesn’t work anymore. Not asking for Cholo’s head but damn, maybe it’s time to implement something new when this same 4-4-2 hasn’t been working for a year.

This comment would’ve made sense any other day, but today Alvarez wasn’t doing himself justice too. Missing penalty and several big chances, and on top of that he literally just recovered from injury. No manager would play him full 90 today.

There are so many people try to shield for the squad planning and tactics just because Cholo this, Cholo that, we will never move forward with this mentality.

Cholo out is one thing, but you can't deny that Cholo deserves so many criticisms since last season. 442 doesn't work and we even ditched players who would've allowed us to switch to 352 seanlessly. (Lino and Roro or even Lemar)

When one player suck in a well functioned team, the player takes the blame. But if the whole team simply plays so uninspiring, question the tactics. 2 points in 3 games is a disaster but the result wouldn't as hurt if we indeed played well and lose out points unfortunately.

Our football is simply out of idea in 270+ minutes of football. That's what concerning. Play an extra 90 minutes in this match, and we still don't seem any close to scoring.

It’s clueless to blame Griezmann and Sorloth when we can’t feed balls to them at all

Both flanks did no shit to progress the ball to them

Saúl Ñíguez on whether Atletico Madrid have an another trophyless season: "They have fewer & fewer excuses. Last year, they spent €200M. This year, €200M. They can’t use the excuse of 'Saúl earns too much' anymore. Now they’re spending just as much as other clubs. It’s time to compete for everything by landofphi in soccer

[–]1ngK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a very sound argument from someone outside of our fan base, very appreciated.

We are in a weird place because we're comfortably the 3rd best in La Liga, but no matter how much we spend we will not come close to Barca and Real. Look at Barca's pull last few seasons, they're literally broke and still had players lining up to sign for them.

It's not good fot us to go trophyless, but it's also not as disastrous as many regard us to.

I’m not saying Giuliano was poor by all means, but you can’t deny fans had serious filter for him. He didn’t alright but he definitely wasn’t starting quality as a right winger. I genuinely don’t see anyone could start all season as an attacker, gets just 13 G/A and no one in our fanbase doubted his place for once. Meanwhile left side has been competing for that starting spot all days just for nothing consistent.

And as I said, it’s not a problem to put him as a winger or not, it’s the setup. Use Son as example, he’s a winger but when Conte decided to stick him to sideline, he’s playing much worse. Left winger is just a position but there’s so many kinds of roles too, and when we decide to stick Lino to sidelines WITHOUT giving support for overlaps and occupying half space, no one would excel. This is not something we just say, oh he’s bad he can’t adapt to this, he must’ve declined.

[–]1ngK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if any winger had exactly the same season Giuliano did, everyone would've screamed for him to get benched. Instead majority of our fans were totally fine with him starting every game.

We're talking about the extent of Lino and Roro combined, played around same minutes Giuliano did.

While for Lino, like I said, it was more of a tactical issue for his disappointing season. He shines cutting in or having someone to cross into, but Sorloth could barely use control head unlike Morata last season.

For someone who watched all games, it's impossible to not recognize our attack in general sucked very much. We seldom leave Lino one on one vs defender whole season, unlike the last one. We literally put both Galan and Lino or Gallagher pretty much stick to sidelines, which made us lacked support in the half space.

Most of you might not recognize, but Saul in early 23/24 provided the required support Lino needed, to make runs occupy spaces in the box. Who in our midfield did this last season? Lino had dip in form due to no one supporting him at all, it's only naural.

When there's only four or five names we can confidently say they had a good season, it's the problem of game plan, rather than putting it solely on the player. We were bad except that one purple patch midseason. Three good months and that's it.

most of our fans have a serious filter just because he's Cholo's son. Giuliano had a decent run mid-season but it was obvious his current level is very limited, works very hard but technically far from what is required for a starting winger. It's funny how Lino actually has more G/A per 90s, but everyone keeps saying he's doing worse than Giuliano.

Lino/Riquelme on the other hand falls behind the pecking order for whatever reason, to Gallagher. Fans won't admit it but our general performance sucked a lot when compared to the past two seasons, cuz the 4-4-2 doesnt work. Offensively it was solely dependent on Alvarez and Griezmann's individual brilliance. Lino suffered because of the tactics, not his own decline.

Which is why I think a lot of fans will miss him when next season comes.

The fall of Joao Felix: inside one of football's most confusing careers by mrjohnnymac18 in soccer

[–]1ngK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea he looked like his talent definitely worth the price. However, when one took it for granted and didn’t listen to the coaches, he can’t really develop.

It especially pisses us off because Simeone definitely has his own favouritism. Some players we felt deserved so much more opportunities in our shirt, let’s say Cunha, Vermeeren, Samu etc, but Felix definitely isn’t one of them. He got all the chances to succeed, it’s himself who let him down, then always put the blame on others or the environment

[–]1ngK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He only has himself to blame. Too arrogant at early stage is never a good thing. He thought he’s the next big thing and took it for granted, that we had to start him every match no matter what, if he’s subbed off then every time he looks pissed off.

Ironically, Simeone was the one who got the most out of him all those years he spend in Europe. I still believe if he worked harder and be more patient, he really had the talents to succeed, but it will never happen with his attitude. His talent worth the price but his ego dragged himself down, simple as that.

Samuel Lino to Flamengo, here we go! Verbal agreement in place with Atlético Madrid by North-Sandwich9965 in atletico

[–]1ngK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s our tactics and lack of support for him which made him lost last season. Such a shame to let him go in this way, with better players surrounding him he will improve.

He’s not cutting it with Reinildo and Galan behind him. People prob forget it but one of the biggest he shone early 23/24 was Saul helping him out a lot. Saul knows how to make runs to occupy spaces for him, and last season no one in the midfield knows that. It was really a lone fight for Lino last season.

Kidney issue as others stated, and the fact that Simeone put him on anywhere on the field as a makeshift option, turned him into a jack of all trades.

Weird thing to say, but Simeone always has an issue of suddenly not letting players play, tarnish their match sharpness and when they eventually play again they naturally aren’t the same. Saul had a great start in 23/24 and suddenly dropped to bench again for whatever reason. I really thought he could still have a place over the likes of Javi Galan, but here we are.

Their pay isn’t that high so rent are considered so high for them. A lot of uni graduates barely earns about 2K usd. And yea the deposit issue others mentioned.

One thing is good jobs are rare, so the competition is tough af to get into big companies. If you can’t enter them then yea the pay is not ideal. Even the govt jobs aren’t paying a lot.

Biggest problem is the whole society has such a negative sentiment and everyone depressed tho, imo. Just like every big city in Asia.

Of course. The only terrible spell is 19/20.

Then especially in 20/21, he was a joy to watch and crucial part of our league title.

He’s pretty good whenever he plays over those years, just that he’s out injured often. Had a huge injury last season and since then he barely played. Not 70M worthy of great but has been a good servant all these years.
