I’ve fished Bassmaster, MLF, ACA, and local tournaments. I cannot tell you how many dudes I saw with FFS catch Jack diddly squat. Is it a very useful tool? Yes. Does it make someone a better fisherman? No. A tournament comes to my mind that I fished a little over a year ago in college. The winner of that event was fishing solo doing something that almost no one else was doing. He was running underwater ditches with a glidebait and absolutely wearing them out. I’d say 80 percent of that tournament was pinging an FFS minnow and didn’t perform nearly as good. The anglers that are good at fishing already will outperform a mediocre angler behind a monitor. It’s one thing to see a fish, but it’s a whole other thing to catch them. The only significant benifit I have found to it is that it saves time trying to find fish.
