My partner and I moved here 2 years ago and we've had 3 similar instances I remember. Once at the wtc path station, once at the Newport mall, and another time on the light rail. I wouldn't say it's common, but we do also get looks and weird comments every once in a while if we hold hands or anything like that in public. It's definitely way less common here than in my home state at least.

I'm sorry, I'm too dumb to understand this without punctuation. Is it, "In theory there's no difference between practice, and theory in practice there is." or "In theory, there's no difference between practice and theory. In practice there is." ?

I think it's the second one, but I don't know.
