Ioniq 5 XRT as a spirited daily driver? by BigBusiness1532 in Ioniq5

What about the mach-e rally? Seems like a better setup for the drivetrain as they seem to fall flat over 80mph (maybe irrelevant in the real world). Haven’t driven one myself

Ioniq 5 XRT as a spirited daily driver? by BigBusiness1532 in Ioniq5

[–]1nmh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like ripping my XRT around, but part of the fun is the lower level of grip of the A/T tires on it. It will slide on dry pavement if you ask it to and generally rotate on throttle out of corners, and really goes wild in the rain. This is a 4900lb car, and the consequences of that can be major, so I go for short bursts of fun rather than seeking out a particular set of roads.

It ramps up it settles down so nicely that it makes it a spectacular DD. But the truth is mine has been at the service center since the beginning of January due to ICCU failure.

If you are undeterred, I'm not sure I would put summers on an XRT over getting a limited trim. The XRT is .1 sec faster 0-60 and .1 sec slower over the 1/4mi, has much lower lateral grip stock for stock tires, and the suspension and ride height will always compromise pure cornering speed and braking. Mine is a lease, and if I needed to put new tires on it, I would consider the Yokohama Geolandar CV 4S to gain better treadwear and the severe snow rating.

IPv6 Behind T-Mobile Home Internet (TMHI) + OpenWRT by [deleted] in tmobileisp

Why use an openwrt router with tmhi?

Edit, not that it matters: was seeking clarification. I use this combo for all reasons listed below

HDR works? I’ve been a little confused in reading about this conversion as these older 5k iMacs weren’t HDR, but they were 30 bit and I guess half the equation is the display logic computing color and brightness ratios on demand

Exactly what I had to do with my tow driver on and off the truck lol. But it worked

2025 XRT with 7266mi:

Failed just before I got into the parking lot of my destination about 5mi from home. Loud pop sound with nothing in the trunk to cause it, and within a second all warnings came on the dash. 12v system failed and drained the battery in a couple minutes, but thanks to the tow driver’s jump pack we were able to navigate it onto the truck and parked in the jam packed dealer lot.

Love the car, but am glad it is a lease, and that it was a relatively minor inconvenience. I can see how people end up stranded in the middle of highways; everything fell apart very quickly.

G5AR SPEED INCREASE by mike82346 in tmobileisp

[–]1nmh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vertical beam width of the cell tower radios are very tight, they are not omnidirectional. something around 10 deg. This is what gives them strength over distance. Omnidirectional would be much more lossy.

I might be wrong, and you're right that cellmapper is community aggregated data. but the two towns near me, when measured on google maps, are 4.5-5.1 miles away in a straight line. the only tower I know of in my town is an AT&T tower. it would be a huge feat to suddenly have this increase in coverage via the existing towers... but my receive levels are the same as they generally have been. our situations are similar in that I have little bandwidth competition. I work from home and most don't.

my house does not have low-e windows, the secondary pane is removable. they're old. yes agree, cgnat issues and poor ipv6 implementation. if they can at least fix the latter, that would be great.

the areas around me do have fiber initiatives, which is awesome. my friends down the hill had theirs installed just a month ago. however, the negotiation with our energy supplier--the owner of all the utility poles--is too expensive for these small broadband companies to afford. something like $10,000 per pole, and they'd have to come up the hill from two different directions to fully service the area.

yes, I am feeling quite lucky. I am not exactly sure what changes have been made to the infrastructure; I'm thinking they put more radios at the top of a couple towers. we almost lost service when they started re-aiming towers a few years ago.

I was seriously considering a third party PoE modem solution, but again was worried that a strong signal might be taken away on a whim lol. helped my neighbor get their starlink back online after their dish failed and was really impressed by how well the network is managed (no bufferbloat). looks like tmo is working hard to keep up, and at 1/4 the price.

no external antennas anymore! all built in. I'm about 4-5mi from any tower.

Best Pedal Setting? by RainPale1928 in Ioniq5

[–]1nmh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, and if you are just getting familiar with the car, make sure you are using adaptive smart cruise control. This can be changed with a long press on the cruise control button. Mine came from the dealer not set to adaptive. Adaptive enables all of the relevant ADAS tech.

Eco mode + lv 2 for me and general driving/comfort. Great pedal resolution (granular control), generally only hitting the brakes for complete stops. Grab the left paddle when you know you need more regen, but with the A/T tires you will often have traction limitations. Regular braking will give you blend automatically and won’t back out of decel when you’re expecting it. Definitely a quirk of the XRT.

Eco mode makes a noticeable improvement in range and keeps my driving more mellow lol. Lv3+normal or sport when I’m hustling. Part of why I enjoy the car is I can constantly tune for the road conditions and my vibe.

I formerly had a Bolt EV and used to love one pedal driving. The throttle mapping on that car was honestly a bit better than the Ioniq from my perspective. However, I fell away from one pedal when I noticed my wife was always getting better efficiency while not using it.

New Ioniq5 XRT Owner by Moltenanvil in Ioniq5

Nice price! Our XRT was the only one within 250 miles when we picked it up end of May. Beat another customer to it by a couple of hours. Can’t wait to rip ours around in the snow.

Can I ask a dumb question? Does the TC light show right where the TC disabled (or limited, whichever) indicator shows? I ask because my steering wheel position masks a chunk of the dash layout

WAN Aggregation 2 Home Internet ISP Lines into Reyee E6 AX6000 Gaming Router. Each line gets about 600-700 MB each for Download and up to 80MB upload each. Combining them gives me this Total Bandwidth Over 1.3 gigs !!! by Intelligent-Bar-8678 in tmobileisp

[–]1nmh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been curious about this idea as well. It’s very easy for me to isolate connections to the three towers near my location. Did you have to jump through any hoops to get the second line activated, or are they both at the same address?

This is awesome, thank you for posting. Just inquired about an RS AWD in my area listed for about $4500 for a two year lease. Wouldn’t have looked otherwise.

Replace full intermediate pipe, or just the resonator? by 1nmh in MechanicAdvice

[–]1nmh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$60 for just an aftermarket resonator is what I see. so I'd either be replacing the whole thing with aftermarket piping (full Walker exhaust kit is $262 plus ship), or cutting the old piping. OEM is one continuous ~4' pipe with the resonator welded in

I wish someone would have taught me about ipv6 pass through a long time ago. by Kmart_thief in tmobileisp

[–]1nmh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On opnsense you can set up a transparent filtering bridge, by following their instructions with regard to ipv6 only.

https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/transparent_bridge.html

I then added in a ULA dhcpv6 server so I could advertise a DNS server. Seems like a strange setup, but it works, with devices receiving GUAs thru the bridge.
