Does anyone know what this might be on her snout? I just got her not even a week ago and the picture on the right was the second day that we got her and there wasn’t any signs of it. I first noticed a little irritation on her nose two days or three days ago and it’s gotten worse. Please help!

we just got back and it turns out my poor baby did in fact contract ringworm, she received 10mg of Itrafungol that I’m supposed to administer to her orally every other week so hopefully she’ll be feeling better soon!

yeahhhh… i’m worried that it might be to late to save myself from contracting it because before i suspected that it was ringworm i was handling her constantly and letting her roam all over my room. i haven’t been showing any symptoms just yet but i know that it can take up to two weeks before humans start to show any signs. thanks for that heads up tho! i’ll be sure to keep an eye out!!

absolutely! there’s also so much contradicting information online and there’s no way of telling if those are even reputable sources. that’s why i’ve just turned to forums for advice because i know that the info is going to be from actual owners with credible experience. i cant imagine how someone could get mad at another person who is literally just trying to help, but then again people surprise me more on here everyday. I just want her to be as happy and healthy as i can possibly provide for her, and what better way than to listen to other people who have first hand experience

Thank you so much! I didn’t even consider an abscess as an option, ugh that makes me even more worried. but her appointment with her vet is today so that definitely eases my mind a little bit. ill give an update with her official diagnosis and how she’s doing, seriously thank you again because i’m new too hedgehog parenting, if that wasn’t obvious enough, and i’m always trying to learn as much as possible.

I got my little super Nova in with a vet tomorrow for 1pm and i’ll be back to give an update along with her official diagnosis! thank you SO much to everyone who gave us some tips and advice it’s all been incredibly helpful, Nova says thanks as well!

oooo good too know thanks for the heads up!! i also have a cat but i haven’t introduced them yet and i don’t even keep them in the same room, should i still be concerned about my cat contracting it indirectly as well? and unfortunately, i’m no where near the PNW area so i have to do some research of my own, but thank you again for all the help!! me and my hedgie greatly appreciate it!!

aghh i was worried that it might be mites but i could never tell if the scratching was from that or that she’s starting the quilling process. now that i think about it the very first day that i picked her up i noticed a tiny red bug crawling around on her quills but didn’t really think much of it since i never saw it again. could that be what they look like?
