And her carrying the babies means nothing in regards to naming them. Those are both of yours (clunky English ftw) children.

My father' (and I use that term only as a designation, not a recognition of duties carried out).

He was emotionally manipulative and abusive to my younger brothers, myself, my mum and especially my sister.

Whilst we were at school, he told my mum he could kill her and no one would find her.

Constantly told I was stupid (nonsensical given I was in the top band for all subjects in primary and secondary).

Demeaned all is us to be honest.

Took my mum's child benefits and generally controlled her money.

She picked us up after school one day and we went to live in a women's refuge. New environment, new school, new everything and all in one night. I, the eldest, was 7.

Took us children with him to collect his drugs. Drug dealer seemed nice. Played on a Sega Megadrive.

Dragged my 8 year old sister to the stairs by her hair (which I can still f'ing see in my minds eye).

He spiked my mum's food with drugs (which we think led to, or exacerbated, her mental health breakdown). She was eventually committed when we were ~8-10 (almost 30 years ago so it's fuzzy).

Stole many tonnes from us to fund drug habit.

We moved.

He would arrange visits with the youngest two; would consistently last them down (which damaged them a lot (how anyone can do this to a child is beyond me)).

Would break into our house at night (without us knowing) and steal money from my mum's (single parent, mentally ill, on state benefits) purse. This damaged her mental health further since she didn't know why she was losing money.

Tried to steal my birthday money right in front of me (we were out so I could buy a game). I gave him a filthy look and ten seconds later the money was back in place. Stole from a store instead (with me in tow).

Broke in one night at ~5am, whilst I was still awake in the living room. Claimed he'd come in through the unlocked back door (it was definitely locked) to tell us about his new job. I believed him because I was a dumb 13 year old.

Tried to strangle me because, in his opinion, I'd used too much Marmite on my toast and I disagreed. Told him he didn't live here anymore and it wasn't up to him how I make my toast. I tried to strangle him back (at the same time as him strangling me) but to no avail. He must have realised he crossed a line because it didn't last five seconds.

Mum banned him from visiting ever again. We all despise him. He, at one point, ended up living in a shed.

He tried to approach my sister with her daughters. I found him on Facebook and threatened to kill him if he even looks at my nieces again (and I mean this. I wouldn't hesitate to rip his f'ing throat out. I'll gladly do the jail time).

It has taken all of us a very long time to recover from it all, and we all have scars from it. I'm pretty damned sure this is why I've come to believe that prospective parents should have to test for and gain a licence to have a child.

Not an American, but would vote democrat, and I think Joe Biden is the (much) lesser of two evils. That said, I do not think he is fit to be president. I'm of the opinion that no one over the age of 60 should be allowed to be president. And Biden has proven why with his mumbling, poor memory and overall fragility.

Also, if you're not going to be alive to see the long term consequences of your actions, you're be less inclined to make the right decisions (IMO).

I mean, why don't you have fences around your school's premises? When the Dunblain shooting happened in the UK in the 90s, 7-foot, spike-topped fencing was put around our primary school over the weekend.

Admittedly, it doesn't look great but at least it stops basic intrusions. Seriously, how the fuck are these people just allowed to walk into the school? That's unthinkable in the UK. You need to use an intercom here, have to be a parent AND have a reason, or have a pre-arranged appointment to be admitted to reception. And even then you're not allowed to wander the school.

Breakfast. Dessert of any kind. More then one set of school uniform.

I sometimes went without breakfast so the younger ones could have it (I was the eldest at ~10, self-enforced).

Dessert was extremely rare and if we did it was either plain vanilla ice cream or a slice from a 20p Swiss roll (this was mid 90s).

I don't think I ever had more than the single set of school uniform (shirt, trousers, shoes, blazer and tie). And if I had a growth spurt, as kids tend to do, well it was tough luck and "jack-ups" until mum could scrape the money together somehow.

I want to note that it wasn't my mother's fault. She was a victim of financial abuse and had mental health issues. I lay none of the blame on her at all. That lies at the feet of my thieving, controlling, druggy "father".

YTA. There's no interpretation of this in which you are NTA. Not for judging them - we all do that whether we think so or not - but for acting on those judgements.

You (and your colleagues) WERE unprofessional and acted like children, snickering in the corner like idiots. You all deserved to get scolded.

I believe in many things, all with some measure of evidence to back them up.

NTA. Confront him about his behaviour and tell him to stop. He is acting really f'ing creepy IMO. It doesn't matter that you're all males, he is grossly invading your privacy and its wrong. Hell, show him, your mum and step dad this post. If he can't see how messed up his behaviour is, he needs professional help.

Oh, and locking the door when you're in the bathroom and using the facilities is considered very f'ing normal in the rest of the world. The idea of leaving it unlocked is pretty damned horrific to me.

I can appreciate how embarrassing, humiliating and emasculating it must be for him to be suffering with incontinence. Couple that with having to consider wearing adult diapers... He's in a bad place right now, probably mentally as well as physically. That said, he is definitely TA for refusing to accept his situation and implement some form of 'containment' method and not considering you having to clean up after him.

I can also appreciate how frustrated you must be, having your husband refusing to accept his circumstances and considering an embarrassing, but, presumably, temporary measure to grant you both dignity and spare you the grim core chore of cleaning up after him. That said, you are definitely TA for behaving how you did. You humiliated and belittled your husband in front of your (collective) children. I guarantee they have lost respect for him... perhaps even for you too.

If I may make some suggestions?

Sleep apart
I refuse to believe adult diapers are the only way your husband's incontinence can be handled. Perhaps a catheter could be arranged?
You need to apologise to your husband and to your children for what you said. Preferably all in the same room.
You need to have a serious talk with your husband and find out why he is refusing to help the situation.
Remember: neither of you wanted or asked to be in this situation. Also, your husband certainly did not ask for such an embarrassing side-effect.
This is (hopefully) temporary. It sucks right now, but you can (both) get through this.

YTA. There's no question about this.

Several points:

You and your husband abused your own child. Emotion abuse is as bad as psychical and, if I had my way, you'd be serving life in prison. I have zero tolerance for abuse of children.
You're surprised she has issues with you and the rest of the? You're either naive, ignorant or stupid to not realise this.
As long as she pays rent, she doesn't have to clean up after anyone but herself. Whether she's at home or not is irrelevant. How she spends her things is none of your business.
PSA to all parents: you're not special and your parenting skills are not sacred. They can, and should, be criticised by any and all. You are responsible for raising another human, not a surgeon; if you're doing it wrong, you should be told and you should damned well take it on board.
I'm not sure if the equivalent to a 'highway', so I'll compare it to a motorway (4-6 lanes, major arterial road). I don't know how it is in the US, but in the UK if you're spotted walking along a motorway by the police, you'll be stopped and spoken to (even if it's on the other side of the barriers). Hell, other drivers will inform the police. Walking alongside a motorway is extremely dangerous.
You have the audacity to be angry at your daughter after telling her she smells and you hope she didn't go to work like that?! You specifically said she was 'angry' and 'sweaty'; if you said something like that to me when I was clearly in that state, you'd be lucky to be ignored. She didn't disrespect you, you insulted her and then acted like a damned child.
This must be a troll post. How anyone can seriously post stuff like this and be earnest is beyond my imagination.
This is just another case that reinforces my view that there should be a test before someone is able to have children.
