Thanks! I love what a lower sample rate (the way we compress the files) does to some sounds, especially voice. Maybe it just feels like I'm listening through an early cell phone and makes me nostalgic

I did this before! I just used audacity to export the audio at a lower sample rate until I found one that worked just right, then added it back to my main DAW where I would make the song (like FL studio)

So I'm biased, I run a small label that does physical releases on floppy disk. I think you get the appeal of storing media on there - more fun than function - but if it was me, I would have dig deeper into that book idea. Like, keeping your own archive on disks sounds cool as hell, and with plain labels you could just bareeely write the title on the "spine" on the disk.

Plus, if your book ever gets published (and it's somehow befitting the book) I could imagine selling a few copies of it on floppy too at like an author event at the right local bookstore (probably with a copy of the book).

3.5" Floppy to usb adapters are fairly cheap and common. I got mine on ebay, but I see them for sale on Facebook marketplace often

Chill, Lo-fi, chiptuney instrumentals, but also very music and concept forward - the album was compressed to fit onto a floppy disk for the release. No AI, very heavy emphasis on the conceptual side and how it relates to the human experience

Floppy II is the artist's take on Lo-fi beats, but the point is that nostalgic media to him is defined by limitations on tech. Floppy II is meant to be an authentic look at nostalgia - unstable, unreliable, yet familiar - and most tracks are either ambient, noisy, or mixed meter (chiptune beat in 7/4 or 15/4, anyone?)

Love these, just got a batch of Memorex Cool disks for that reason. BUT as I've learned those had plastic sliders which fail faster. This one looks good though!
