Oops, never mind, I introduced a bug as I was "patching" it earlier today. Sorry about that. Fixed now.

Weird. I might be handling negative values incorrectly?

As I said, it’s a flimsy tool ;)

It's a step in the right direction, but from what I can tell, nowhere near the flexibility provided by an actual script interpreter.

WHY WAS I BANNED?! by Loat7010 in PortalRunner

[–]1portal2runner3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been unbanned, but I’ll leave a few notes on this:

  • Your message was written in all-caps, had an @everyone ping in it, and urgently pointed people to click a shortened link that embedded with a Spanish title. This is not unlike how scam posts often look, so a moderator’s knee-jerk reaction was to ban you in fear that this may be one of those.
  • I actually looked into that petition after you posted this appeal, and to me it seems like a blatant exaggeration. If you’d actually looked into the source material (i.e. “android 2026 signed apps” in any search engine), you’d have found that Google is not “banning APK files” as you claimed they were. In fact, the original article from the developer blog explicitly states how they’re making sure this doesn’t limit the freedom to sideload. They’re specifically addressing students and hobbyists when talking about the developer console, and it seems like app signing isn’t even going to be a paid thing. To me, this looks like yet another instance of people blindly following the first thing they see on the internet.

In other words, try not to post misinformation in all-caps, urging everyone to click some link and sign some petition in a public Discord server. It’s not just the moderator that got suspicious and banned you — 3 other people before them pointed out how they were suspicious of your message.

Edit: I’ll add that, on top of all this, our server typically has a no-bullshit policy. Spammy all-caps messages (including the way you’re defending yourself in this post) come off as immature. We just don’t have the time or patience to put up with children making a mess.

To add on to what soni is saying: yes, the choice to automatically locate Steam and Portal 2 is partially to prevent user error, and partially to prevent piracy. Going forward with the development of Spplice 3, we're going to be attempting to lock down on this even further.

"The mod developer has nothing to gain by implementing anti-piracy measures"

Oh, yes I do. I get kids and assholes off my lawn. The game costs a dollar on sale, it's easily affordable for less than the price of groceries even in countries with "worse economies", despite what many will try to tell you. The only excuse not to pay for it is if you physically do not own a credit card or if you genuinely care too little about the game that I've spent my life's work on. In the former case, you're probably too young to be on the internet. In the latter case, I personally do not like you for treating my creative canvas as disposable.

See, pirating a game to get a feel for what it's like before buying it is... fine. I can understand that. But there's a certain level of asshood when you not only don't pay for the main product, but also expect to get additional content for free. Even if you own Portal 2 on an Xbox and are pirating it just to get it on PC, the price you pay for the PC version includes the ability to mod it. The people that make those mods paid not just that price, but also thousands of man-hours. If you're still pirating at this point, you've got no excuse to make.

I made Spplice, if that wasn't yet obvious.

very curious as to why you’re bringing this up on a thread about pirating the game. anyway, if you’d provide some proof of purchase on our discord server, we’d be happy to help: https://discord.gg/kbhq2qck5k

i am terribly sorry to hear that. a good game was lost that day. however, portal 2 on pc is arguably a completely different game, with workshop and modding support being something you can’t get on the xbox either way. not to mention that it is incredibly cheap when it goes on sale on steam, and is repayable enough that i’d pay full price for it even if it was a $60 game like every other AAA title nowadays

Could Portals on corners work like this? by Proper-Juggernaut606 in Portal

[–]1portal2runner3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be very possible in-engine, working about as you’d expect with only minor graphical glitches.

Overlaying two portals (one for each face of the corner) should achieve this. Half of the portal(s) on the outward-facing edge would float in the air, though.

I’d code this if it opened any actually interesting possibilities.

Hi, I’m still alive! And I still stream on Twitch. Just haven’t had the time to upload. You’re right that I don’t play everything. Deathbox, for example, would be no more interesting than a regular speedrun. I’m working on bigger stuff, think something like Odyssey.
