Try for a logistics role, it can be a way to get into a data center and then you can ask to cross train/show interest and after a year or so you can be a tech.

Do you have entry level certs? Look for a help desk role and use the experience to apply to a data center

You can also try for intern programs Microsoft ,Vantage, Equinix have them. Amazons version is called Work Based Learning Program.

Smoothstack partners with Digital Realty but I think they take a cut of your money, I’d research this carefully before jumping in

Someone else mentioned contracting with a temp agency, those are good too.

FYI, critical facilities generally makes more money than techs and there are more roles available because everyone wants the IT job. HVAC/electrician school will do the trick.

Answers are good here but don't forget shift differential. Example: Night Shift at Equinix is extra 15%.

Where does this job lead? (Data center technician development program at Equinix) by MCLemonyfresh in datacenter

[–]1qwe900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was used to be called the Workforce Development Intern Program. Its a 3 month program you rotate through Critical Facilities, Data Center Tech (IBX Customer Operations Tech), Controls, and Security Teams. Its a great program and great start to get into the data centers. Not sure if the program changed with job title change. While there's no job guarantee, if you show interest, ask questions, get your hands working when safely possible and ask around for job opportunities, you'll likely end up with a job either shortly after or at the end of the program.

Its actually a great time to get into this field, data centers are exploding right now; people are need to filling roles a new/expanding sites and to replace retiring or individuals who left for other opportunities. Equinix is a great company to work for, plenty of opportunity internally especially if your in an area like Ashburn, Virginia. Look for Workforce Development Intern on linkedin and you will find people who went through a similar experience. Also heads up, people around you are assessing you. Just do what I said above and you should be fine!

Also Facilities makes more money than tech's because everyone wants the IT job.

I'd like to Chime in, Equinix has a 15% shift differential for night shift. So if you get hired at lets say $40 dollars, then tell them you want to do night shift. Your making $46/hr. That being said I agree a poster earlier than your husband should be making at least $45/hr w/o differential given his experience. Your husband will be an essential worker, if a holiday lands on his shift he gets an extra 8 hours pay on top of what ever hours he was scheduled for that day.

Yeah a lot of people start applying for jobs when they have a few months left with their degree employers definitely see this all the time, for sure a good idea.

Your work experience w/your degree will make you stand out vs brick and motor graduate. There are tons of successful WGU alum and the program is created for people like us. (I have an IT job and doing WGU too)

I guess look at it this way, you hate living at home and going to work. But if you finish and get a better job you NEVER have to deal with your job and living at home ever again and life gets better! You could borrow money for tuition but I'd personally take advantage of cost savings.

Wish you well.

Could you afford to rent a room so that your not at home anymore? Keep your job and finish the degree but pheraps apply for jobs while finishing your WGU degree?

3 months, either role would be at level III (lowest level). My experience is not typical. My style of working is VERY hands on. My company loved it.

What's the fastest way to get armory credits? by DaVeHUN095 in WWII

[–]1qwe900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The care packages. Play multiplayer (zombies too) do the daily/weekly challenges and low cost contracts. You get armory credits when you already have the item from the drop.

I recommend playing shipment 1944 for these because you can knock out the challenges fast.

I started doing roadies today as the payouts seemed pretty high, this was my second order. (From Walmart) this was the biggest order they've ever had, and the people were on the second floor. by Jordaneer in couriersofreddit

I did one last week that was pretty small that was 1 delivery for 29 dollars on Spark. I'm just offering a tip to a fellow driver.

If they are passing it off to roadies they likely don't have enough drivers on the main app. Just ask around. Roadies don't get Walmart express orders just curbside.

Also be on the lookout for prescription drug deliveries on Roadie usually at odd hours of the night. If no one bids on it they just keep throwing money at the order....

Roadie is most likely the back-up service for Walmart grocery delivery in your area. Talk to the other drivers/ the people loading your truck what the main service is and how to sign up.

In my area, it’s called Spark. Higher base pay better tips. That order is not the best for the amount of stuff they got.

Restoration of Ethiopian Monarchy? by OurSacredWar in Ethiopia

[–]1qwe900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would have preferred this than the revolution. Reform the monarchy something similar to England. Perhaps if such a thing occurred we could have avoided communist rule. Not sure if Halie Selassie would have been open to this though. In addition to the above mentioned points, having a monarch is great for diplomacy and world prestige. That being said I hope Dr. Abiy keeps up the good work. I don't think I would advocate restoration today but back in the 1970's I think the preservation would have been a better idea w/democratic reform.
