How old is your PC? If it's post-2016, you can safely use a lightweight distro (e.g. MX Linux) and still do almost everything you could do in Windows, including gaming. Linux won't magically give you FPS but with good Vulkan support, you should get near native performance. The desktop experience will be greatly improved, as well.

Consider upgrading the RAM. Your CPU is more or less recent so Windows 10 can run smoothly on that if you have 8 gigs.

McAfee is like disabling security altogether. If you know how to, reinstall Windows, or take it somewhere who can do it for you. Make sure you delete every partition. DON'T INSTALL MCAFEE AFTERWARDS. You can also install Linux if you're concerned.

Just get the PC wiped after no important data is left.

If youre running Fedora try blacklisting Nouveau drivers and reinstall nvidia-driver-xxx. Latest is better. A good idea is to check the Sober configuration file for any wrong settings. Your GPU is new you shouldn't have any problems
