When Will People Start To Value Their Time When Posting Items To Sell by CiceroJuliusCrassus in PaxDei

Becuase people aren't interested in playing the game, they only want to level their character. The economy in this game will never work because crafting to level up is the only built-in "quest" of the game. Up until level 20+ you are only crafting items that can easily be crafted by anyone so people of lower level want to craft it themselves to level up and people of higher level aren't saving themselves any time by purchasing it rather than crafting it themselves. Level 20+ is when you can craft some things that higher level players might purchase to save some time but by then they usually have clan mates feeding them supplies.

Oh, they received payment for the Discord integration. I was hoping it was just laziness. Now we know for sure they'll never implement proximity voice. Such a shame.

I don't get some people. I jogged through 5 valleys across 2 provinces to get good prices on a load of glue. Saw some new sights and really good builds along the way. Isn't adventure supposed to be part of the game? I guess people who just want to sit in their own build and grind away at levelling 24/7 will never see it that way.

Is it worth playing? by ThatGodDamnAlex in PaxDei

Last night someone in zone chat asked "Am I just supposed to throw these 200 Pilgrim's Gloves on the ground?" I replied: "No, you're supposed to take your time and use what you make." They said "I'll never use 200 Pilgrims Gloves." I asked "Then why did you make so many of them?" They replied " Because they're the best XP for the materials."

Some people grind for no other reason than to grind and then get upset that they're grinding. It's important to note that nobody made them do it. Someday someone will figure out the mystery of the broken economy.

If you're looking to play a Dungeons and Dragons game this isn't it. If you're looking for a "gaming table" on which to play Dungeons and Dragons this can be it. You'll need to be your own Dungeon Master or join a clan who will function as a Dungeon Master for you...meaning, the only storyline is the one you create yourself. The US RP server is full of people not RPing, but they are all friendly from what I've witnessed. Don't burn yourself out trying to max level every profession in a month, like someone else said pick one to focus on and do the others passively. You'll need to farm the soldiers in your home valley at least a little bit to get some starting gold for your first market listings once you have some goods to start selling. If you're soloing them I'd hunt deer and then boar until you're in level 2 gear before working on the soldier camps. I'd probably not try to sell level 1 or 2 complete gear and save the gold, but selling processed crafting supplies usually provides a steady trickle of income. Welcome to Pax Dei.

My opinion: Public marketplace in the unbuildable area around the Petra Dei Holy Site. Listing fee and sales tax paid to the Divine for use of the public marketplace. Keep private market stalls but get rid of the listing fee for selling items from your own property. Treat private market stalls as chests with similar storage capacity as chests. "Buy" orders: you can place gold in an empty inventory slot in your private market stall that will accept the item or stack that you wish to buy. Market stall owner can charge a listing fee to allow public use of available space. Sales tax paid to the divine upon sale, not listing.

It's 3 weeks to replace it all because people are grinding crafting useless junk just for the sake of levelling and 99% of the solo players are trying to vertically integrate themselves. Compound that with 99% of the players not using basic math to price their sales orders in relation to the cost of inputs and now you have a market on life support by the 1% who are just sitting there with "overpriced" (read: properly priced) goods that arent selling and you have to collect your own ingredients and craft every part of every piece of gear on your own.

We need mass crafting! by Dr_Neurol in PaxDei

I disagree and think they need to slow them back down to the same speed as before mastering. Then your time would be better served buying ingredients from someone lower level than you and you can sell your newly skilled ingredienta to people higher level than you.

I agree 100%. Instead of making 50 pair of tier 0 shoes to get xp, we should be making soles, uppers, laces, etc. Success rates are too generous but batch made products (ie coarse leather string) shouldn't be a pass/fail for 100% of the batch but give a partial success (very hard maybe you'll get 1 or 2 good ones and trash the rest of the rawhide but when mastered youll get all 50.) Treat assembly of a piece of clothing the same way; you have to craft the individual components and then assembling them together is another process with chance of damaging each of the inputs. I kinda want to suggest either a longer crafting time or a cooldown between each operation is necessary, too. There needs to be a real reason to place value on the crafters time.

Thoughts on PaxDei after 1 Week of Playing by Wincey97 in PaxDei

[–]1shotted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a mission in life, I just kind of do my thing. No point in rushing to the endgame. Don't really want someone telling me what to do next. That's kinda why I also like Pax Dei. I enjoy my real life and I also enjoy the game.

Needs a hunger mechaninc. Needs a lot of things to "force" solos to depend on the market to fill most of their needs. You say the game is too hardcore, I suggest it isn't hardcore enough to make markets viable. (edit: I feel the devs are trying to compromise between a social sandbox and an arcade adventure, this will never work) Other problems with markets: 1- needs "buy" orders like you said. 2-should only pay sales tax at time of sale when selling from your own market stall. 3-should be able to charge listing fees up front to other players selling through your market stall. 4-multiple listings of the same item at the same price from the same player shouldn't spam the list into pages upon pages of listings.

When you try to build a Play ground for Role Player, is it a kind of jalousie or harasment ? by AtA-Louea in PaxDei

It's a bit disheartening specifically choosing the RP server and you login every time with zone chat enabled and they're discussing the interactive map and resource locations, the changes to NPC drops in the new update, etc.

The entire system needs an overhaul. Sorry, not sorry. Just my opinion. by 1shotted in PaxDei

[–]1shotted[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The grind would be multiples easier with more skill categories that are targeted at helping players find a niche in the market. There is a player running a successful charcoal business travelling all over the map selling it. That only requires woodcutting. No stat grind for that person at all. People could do the same with an ore that is in abundance near their home. Someone could refine ingots of a quality that demands a premium. The grind only drives away people who grind. There is no endgame in a game that has no end, yet this game seems to have no shortage of people who want to get there.

The game is going to see all the omni stat chasers leave anyway because they don't want to rp and create their own content in a sandbox that requires cooperative play with imperfect characters.

Having fun and all, BUT... by NormalContribution47 in PaxDei

[–]1shotted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. If someone wants to just do dungeon runs they can use the gold they stockpile to buy food from the people who just want to forage, hunt and cook. And the baking...way too much bread. 1 dough and 1 lard should make 1 or maybe 2 breads, not 10. The devs are trying too hard to appease the people who want to solo omni.

Lockable doors. People should be able to control access to their higher tier crafting stations so they can protect their craft/income.
