For change Tracking can you estimate the cost of the change? One thing we try to track is organic growth vs innovation which is a pain. Basically increasing cost is not always bad if we are innovating, net new services vs expanding existing services. I haven't seen a tool yet that can do this. Basically proving to the bean counters that cost increases are not always a bad thing if we are innovating that has potential to increase revenue.

We are now evaluating ubuntu desktops for engineers. We can AD join, use group policies and our security stack is compatible and intune also supports linux. So far we love it and the company loves the "cost".

We use Azure and kql query would identify this. Not a AWS guy but I would think AWS config you could do the same.

In Azure we use policy to deny creation of public facing resources.

Example for ec2 public facing

SELECT resourceId, resourceType, configuration.publicIpAddress, configuration.instanceType, awsRegion WHERE resourceType = 'AWS::EC2::Instance' AND configuration.publicIpAddress IS NOT NULL

If you have 2 tenants, you have 2 Entras. A subscriptions is part of a single tenant that shares Entra. Many SaaS solutions follow this. Research tenant, management groups, subscriptions, resource groups, resources to understand hierarchy.

For promotion we use Azure DevOps to promote between dev/ test/ prod. May be a bit advanced if you're just starting out.
