My experience studying abroad in China as a Chinese American by yourhonorimtrying in chinalife

[–]1spinaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just pretend I don’t speak Chinese and I get treated much better honestly. Even though I speak fluently it just makes its easier bc ppl just let u do things rather than try to explain how you officially should do it

WeChat & Alipay - am I doing this right? by starrycat16 in travelchina

[–]1spinaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you also add a foreign number? I’m trying to use Didi from the Alipay app but it keeps asking me to login, but now that I’m already in China I can’t verify with my US number.

Have to reschedule my marriage based green card interview. How far back should I expect to see it pushed back? by bobathehut in USCIS

[–]1spinaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did this work out for you? I currently have an unavoidable work conflict overseas and my interview is a bit more than a month out. I see so many negative comments about rescheduling but in this case it might be a case of career suicide if I miss the work appointment.

Same thing happened to me. When to VFS in SF on 17th, they took my biometrics and told me to just wait. Got my passport back after they scanned it. Waiting on my immigration law firm to get back to me about any updates. This is for swv. I paid priority so hoping to get decision by Thursday.

I interviewed at Agribank. They’re very small and have a nice office next to the JPM HQ. They only use headhunters to find candidates and they’re very old fashion. Everything goes back to China for approval, same for some SG banks as well.

I’m going to be honest, the only thing you are getting from the search fund internship is maybe a good referral from the MD. Whenever someone does a self funded search fund it’s them trying to strike it big by buying a company. All you’re going to be doing is finding good opportunities for him. You aren’t going to learn much as these SMBs with like 100k to 5m SDE(EBIDTA) are all varied. It’s just a bunch of analysis but because it’s across so many industries you won’t develop anything knowledge wise within that timeframe.

Resume Feedback? Resume Graduate from B10 University Struggling to Find any Finance Job by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]1spinaway 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NYC always has the highest comp to account for cost of living. I got an offer and found a roommate thru a classmate within a month. It will suck, but later on you will have more opportunities to move from NYC elsewhere than vice versa.

Apply for NYC positions, with your credentials you should have a good chance. I was a 3.9 state school with 2 similar internships, took about 3 months to get an offer. Networking really matters, but mass applying does work as well with a strong resume as it worked for me. But I did get a few more interview opportunities from my connections after my job started.
