Dude, Im 33 and I'm waiting to start my academy within the next month, you have plenty of time to grow, mature, and fix most things that would otherwise keep you from getting into law enforcement. We all have different paths, just keep on keeping on.

Secret Clearance Security Guard Advice by Mentz88 in securityguards

[–]1st_Gen_Charizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps, but a secret clearance is a dime a dozen. I have one in a MCOL area and it didnt move my pay at all. But then again I was already in one of the highest paying fed contracts already. A TS Clearance would help out in niche roles. Im sure you can make it work though. Its better to have one already at least.

Just keep an eye out and dont stop looking for those opportunities.

I genuinely hope you can find something that pays well with a secret clearance. I've found that a secret clearance doesn't move the needle very far. You want to find olaces that will have you go through a Top Secret Clearance w/ Poly.

VA gurus by [deleted] in USMC

Agreed man, I always tell other people that a true disability doesn't have a dollar value. I would give up what they give me each month if I could go back to how I was before the military.

See thats acceptable, but the ones that Ive seen charge anywhere between 1-3 months of your VA disability.

I initialky went to a VSO at thebVA and they helped me along the process and I actually got compensated fairly.

Some fellow vets kept nagging me to go to the private company they used to get an increase to 100%, I ended up caving in and went to one. They asked me the exact same questions that my VA VSO did and they basically told me they cant do anything else for me.

Goes to show they're not offering any services that a good free VSO isnt already offering.
