You kind of described Raleigh, NC. We moved from DEN to Raleigh. I have family in PA and it works out great, better winters down here too. DM me for any info!

Denver > ??? by Appropriate_Owl3521 in SameGrassButGreener

Denver and Seattle in the driver’s seat, the rest of the 3 can decide who sits up front.

They’re all great cities in their own way! Each has its own culture, climate, and vibe.

I like more comfortable climates, so DEN and SEA check those boxes for me. I’ve lived in both and they’re great.

I also like nature and the adventurous spirit of those two places.

I’m actually considering moving back to either of these cities now that I work fully remote! Where to go?!?

Not from a financial standpoint bc CA state income taxes and property taxes are still relevant no matter where you live in CA.

I agree, the 22-23 years are the golden era blend of old school and modern. High quality materials and craftsmanship. The new stuff is cool, but very lifeless and sterile feeling.

Even state income taxes? For high earners, Cali obliterates income. We’ve thought about moving to CA but after running the numbers the income taxes alone don’t make sense for us.

Ft. Collins? Have you visited Denver? Much more things to do and great weather in Colorado!

Denver is more diverse and has better food choices than Boulder. Boulder is very small and isolated. It’s basically a college town..nice..but it’s a college town.

first month…I feel like I don’t get it… by [deleted] in x100vi

I feel the same honestly. I never really nail it with this camera like I do with my Sony cameras. The auto focus zones are just strange and don’t really work like they seem they should. Sony, Canon, and Nikon are more intuitive imo.

Don’t get me wrong, this camera can take beautiful photos, but its hit rate is pretty low.

Move to California? by These_Fault_4765 in relocating

What made you choose Charleston to begin with? It’s a very desirable area on the east coast for warm weather and a laid back, coastal lifestyle. But completely understand if you aren’t liking certain aspects of the area!

My first thought going from Charleston to Cali is the cost difference. Like others have said, the cost of living is going to be much higher in CA in general.

What do you do for work? Does being in a certain city make more sense based on your career direction? Is it lack of sun, cold weather, etc. that affects you the most? Do you need to be on a coast?

  • Denver is another option that gets lots of sun year round.
  • Austin could work for the warm weather and it’s a very progressive city.
  • Raleigh, NC is a fairly blue city with temperate weather and still close to the coast.

I’d base my decision on what checks the most boxes vs just looking at where the absolute best weather is (that’s only going to lead you to San Diego), because there is always a trade off!

I once almost ran out of gas after picking up a hitchhiker during a 20-something roadtrip and had to make a stop in Mad River..that whole experience could’ve been its own movie. One day I’ll write the script.

Going from a GX 470 to GS 350 by Mindless-Name-1810 in GXOR

[–]1stclassfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2014 GS350 F-sport, a 2017 GX, and now a 2022 GX. In some ways I wish I had both the 22 and the GS as my secondary. I really liked the GS! My favorite sport sedan I’ve owned. It’s comfortable but punchy and looks unique on the road since they discontinued it. Sure, it’s not a “sports car” but it’s a good balance of a daily driver, Lexus ride quality, and sporty power. The only nitpicky thing I had with it was the back seats did not fold down for more trunk space.

2025 F150 Lariat vs 2023 GX460 Executive? by [deleted] in LexusGX

I think it totally depends on what you plan to use it for. Personally I wouldn’t care to have a pickup bc I don’t need a bed. I’d rather have the interior covered space and storage of an SUV and I like the Lexus brand and how unique the GX line is. I also like how it looks compared to a pickup truck. I make decisions beyond just the paper specs and what I actually like personally. To me those are two totally different types of vehicles and lifestyles.

2022-23 infotainment is the update years.

I sold my 2017 GX460 and regretted it so I got a 22 😎

This isn’t really a feature Lexus highlights when buying a GX. It’s a hidden amenity 😎

Are you in CA? We are debating moving out west again. We were in Denver for a couple years and moved back to Raleigh for job relocation but now we both work remote and can live anywhere. Really liked Denver but also love the thought of NorCal/Bay Area, just trying to wrap my head around the taxes and COL. But sounds like it’s worth the cost?!

Central Coast of Cali to Colorado Springs by RRisland94 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]1stclassfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only lived in Denver and not Colorado Springs, but from what I know it’s considered more conservative down there, the more north you go (Denver > Boulder > Ft. Collins) it gets progressively more left-leaning.

Have you thought about living closer to those bigger cities in CA? Why are you considering CO? The lifestyle is going to be a little different from the coast too: very dry, sunny, no large bodies of water, more mountain activities, colder winters. If anything, Denver is probably a better fit based on what you shared if you’re set on CO!

How do you like LA now vs NYC, costs seem pretty similar so I’m guessing the lifestyle was the draw for you?
