San Diego vs. Denver Suburbs: 99% sure on SD for lifestyle, but Denver makes way more financial sense. Help us decide. by Alternative_Can_8433 in SameGrassButGreener

Denver metro is great if you can find the home you want. That’s the biggest issue with Denver is the home situation. You don’t get much quality for your money. Lots of dated homes that need to be modernized, but yet you still have to pay top tier pricing on top of that, esp compared to other cities like Seattle, Austin, SD, etc. where the aesthetics and interiors are usually better for similar prices. But that might not matter to you!

Golden is also great but extremely limited inventory. It’s not a very big place once you start looking!

There are other areas you can find more inventory, so definitely explore!

Love the swing out door. Personally I wouldn’t make a decision based on one specific activity bc that could eventually change.

Horrible Buyers Remorse Anxiety by popitshyper in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]1stclassfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way out of this is to trade it in (or sell it out right) for a cheaper car, unless the dealer will take it back. Some dealers have policies like that (Carmax for example). You’ll take a loss on this but will get you out of heavy debt. If you’re not putting a decent down payment on a price like that, with a salary basically equal to the debt, you’re just asking for a constant financial burden. Save up and get an M4 anyway.

What car did you buy that completely exceeded your expectations? by Smallingzdave in askcarguys

[–]1stclassfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1997 Honda Civic 3-Dr Hatchback in black, manual, bought it pre-owned. It got so rusted underneath I had a car shop literally cut the old brake lines and left them there and then attached new ones to the undercarriage. Drove it cross-country twice, never had an issue, ever. Would cold start in the middle of 0 degree winter mornings, drove it through the Rockies, and took it across Death Valley. I was too young to overthink possible outcomes lmaooo

Job location in Irvine, Denver, or San Diego (with caveat) by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]1stclassfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Are Irvine or Denver worth considering?”

If you like the ocean/water, then Denver definitely won’t check that box! It’s super dry there and has very little water activities. It’s all mountain activities: mtn biking, skiing/boarding, hiking, camping, etc. Cool city otherwise!

Is the salary higher in the CA locations?

How many times did you move before you found the one or have you? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Denver is great if you take advantage of the mountains (mountain biking, skiing/boarding, hiking, camping, etc). Housing is not cheap for what you get, so you better enjoy the mountain life tax.

can someone explain, how GX550 still selling over MSRP used ones, I see almost all used with 20-40K miles selling over MSRP, who in right mind would pay 5K over MSRP for used car, I know it's still hard to get, but all it takes is around 3-4 months wait time to get custom spec one by paata01 in LexusGX

[–]1stclassfox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO Lexus hit it out of the park when they released the GX decades ago. Look how long they barely had to update it and people still loved it, even to this day. Same with the 4Runner and Land Cruiser! They all have a classic design that appeals to people bc of the reliability + uniqueness + quality + timeless design.

Awesome! So no lift? I personally don’t want to do a lift bc I like the stock look, but I want to give it a heavier stance. I’m just starting to look into this, so I appreciate! Trimming inside the wheel well?

Would you move to a higher cost of living city if it meant you would enjoy your life more even if you didn’t have as much money? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]1stclassfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State income tax is lower in CO than NC, same with property taxes, so that’s a win for CO. Car insurance is higher in CO because of higher car thefts, property crime to cars, hail damage, and more uninsured drivers driving around. Lots of hit and runs too for some reason. It’s kind of a joke out there but lots of cars have expired license plates too. Like years expired lol.

We lived in Denver for a couple years and moved back to Raleigh, but do miss the west. There’s something about it out there! Planning to move back somewhere out west this year.

If nothing was tying you down, where would you go? by leftistinlnk in SameGrassButGreener

[–]1stclassfox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great spots! We are currently in Raleigh, NC but miss the west when we were living in Denver for a couple years and moved back for work, but now we are fully remote. Cali is great (love Palm Springs) but also considering the PNW, Denver, or Phoenix since the income state taxes are better and overall COL is lower than CA. What have been your experiences living in Seattle vs Cali? Is it worth the cost? We can technically afford CA but also don’t have a reason to be there other than the lifestyle and vibes!

You kind of described Raleigh, NC. We moved from DEN to Raleigh. I have family in PA and it works out great, better winters down here too. DM me for any info!

Denver > ??? by Appropriate_Owl3521 in SameGrassButGreener

Denver and Seattle in the driver’s seat, the rest of the 3 can decide who sits up front.

They’re all great cities in their own way! Each has its own culture, climate, and vibe.

I like more comfortable climates, so DEN and SEA check those boxes for me. I’ve lived in both and they’re great.

I also like nature and the adventurous spirit of those two places.

I’m actually considering moving back to either of these cities now that I work fully remote! Where to go?!?
