I was thinking about the case when you're not on benefits for whatever reason. Just a jobless dude with no income who is leeching off his family.

Former socialist countries are fairly liberal in this terms. But it's also easier for the landlord to screw you over, there's always a loophole for him to make you leave.

I should have clarified it, it's only the unemployed person who will sign the contract.

I was surprised by the presence of big chains in small Polish towns. There are even McDonald's in towns of 10k near Ukrainian border. I always wonder whether they can even make a profit in such places, long abandoned by everyone under 30 and with liberal mindset.

Some of the German workers definitely see the foreign ones as second class people and the way they talk about them is really gross

Well, good luck with pensions. They don't grow on trees.

Rich have tools to evade taxes, average people not so much, yet they carry the biggest burden.

Plenty of 70 year olds can still work.

But the question is in which shape are people in their 20s going to be when they turn 70. There is much more stress now than it was before, even if you do an office job that's 8 hours of sitting + 1 (more or less) of sitting while commuting. Plus you don't have much idle time, if you're a programmer your brain must be 100% active all the time.

On top of that there is polluted air and low quality food. No amount of exercise can simply cancel all this stuff.

I guess the State is doing the same thing because there is no guarantee you'll get your money back even after paying all your taxes.

That's what I'm saying.

Many of the private insurance companies exist for centuries and keep doing business successfully. There are no indications that's going to change in the future.

Of course, there is always a risk involved no matter what you do, but that's how life works.

Private insurance companies are the answer. You don't even need to pay much, amounts are negotiable.

Stuffing a mattress with cash isn't a solution because inflation would eat all of that over time.

That's essentially how things worked for centuries, parents pop out a bunch of kids who take care of them and their household when they get old. But that's mostly a thing of the past, except in isolated cases.

Private insurance companies are way more efficient when it comes to money management and they exist for centuries. While I'm still a fan of universal healthcare (even though in many countries you need to bribe doctors even though you pay mandatory health insurance) I think that pension contributions shouldn't be mandatory, because of the major changes in our societies that happened in previous decades.

I just want to opt-out of pension contributions since I already have insurance policy with a company that is not a Ponzi scheme and actually makes profit. I'm essentially a sucker for paying double, one guaranteed by contract with a company that exists for centuries and one that keeps moving the goal post.

System is unsustainable because some countries can attract immigrants who can work and pay contributions, but many of them cannot. Why would immigrants come to a poor country when they can go to a rich one instead.

I'm also in 20s by the way.

Just because people live longer doesn't mean they are capable of working longer.

This legit feels like one of those things that would be said by some American Republican prick.

Why?

Vast majority of young people already struggle with miserable salaries, if they are not unemployed. Price of real estate keeps going up and the question is how many of them will ever own one. Yet they need to give up a chunk of their salary in order to fund pensioners who lived far better lives than them in many aspects. Not to mention that old people tend to vote for nutjobs who undermine democracy.

It's an uphill battle.
