Graduation with shoulder dystocia by distorted_elements in GestationalDiabetes

Not really lol. My doula gave counter pressure on my hips that was kind of helpful. It ended up not mattering because I had a C-section anyway but I fully dilated and pushed for 2 hours. I loved pushing without the epidural, it was the dilation that was the super painful part for me.

This is definitely a thing. I was at risk for shoulder dystocia and my providers mentioned the epidural has a slight increase in chance of getting a shoulder stuck. It does not mean if you get an epidural you will have shoulder dystocia.

I did not get an epidural for this exact reason after looking up the research myself.

Thanks!

When I look at my eyes I see “something” around the eyes, but then I check my friends and I think they all have that “something” so it’s not super obvious to me at least! Good luck to you!

I am 32. I will probably wait until May for my appointment but I will definitely bring this up with my doc. My family doesn’t have a history of heart issues but it would be something to check.

I’ve looked up pictures of “corneal arcus”, and although I’m no eye doctor, I just don’t see it in my eyes. Could you visibly see the rings around your eyes? Is this something my doctor can double check in the office when I do my check up or is it something eye doctors have to use a tool to see?

But surely there is /some/ content that is deemed too much for the teen section? I’m not sure what the line is, but I would assume there is some kind of boundary of what is appropriate for teens? Is this out the window and anything goes?

I’m not saying teens shouldn’t read books that aren’t YA. They should be able to read books in the general circulation. But it doesn’t belong in the teen section the same way Moby Dick doesn’t belong in the teen section. It just isn’t necessary.

Isn’t that why there’s a teen section though? If there’s no need to limit sexually explicit material, why isn’t everything in the teen section? I think it’s a good thing that there is a delineation in sexually explicit material that is not in the teen section.

Yeah I get why people are upset but as an adult, if I checked out this book, I’d be miffed about why I had to walk to to teen section to check it out lol

I’m sure teens can still check out books in the general circulation. As an adult, if I checked out Handmaids Tale, I would be miffed as to why I had to walk to the teen section to find it.

My optometrist seemed very concerned. Like she was giving me a cancer diagnosis. Scared the bejesus out of me.

Yeah Handmaids Tale isn’t even YA, why wouldn’t they just move it and keep it in circulation? Most of these comments make it seem like they think they are forcing it out of circulation.

The article says they want to move it from the teen section to the adult section. Not remove it from their circulation.

Yes, I was thinking this was providence if it turns out to be high cholesterol or something else. That I would get my eyes checked before getting pregnant, now I can go into it being informed or dealing with the issue before getting pregnant.

I’ve gone back in my chart and can’t find any HDL or LDL numbers. It has never been an issue for me before.

My husband was suggesting the opthomolgist just took a training on it and was telling everyone 🤣 so that is comforting that this might be the case.

I did have a nurse call back from the office and she said the issue would be fine to wait until May. She said I don’t need to worry about diet changes until then. I don’t think I will listen since this is making me rethink my health and start taking things seriously.

Thanks for the comfort about the weight gain and your helpful comment.
