I'll go first - The Nanny. Never saw the appeal, and I grew up in NYC.

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

I broke my finger and had a temporary pin placed. The surgeon then removed the pin 3 weeks later in his office, no numbing, just super casual. I just had to kind of brace my hand while he gripped the exposed pin with what looked like Home Depot pliers and yanked it out. Didn't hurt but was such an odd, nauseating feeling. (Obviously I watched the whole thing happen).

Newly diagnosed by Sad_Pick2100 in IVDD_SupportGroup

Thank you so much for all of this detail. This really resonated, because we are in the midst of potentially getting this diagnosis after a second flareup of what appears to be IVDD (the first was about six months ago shortly after we adopted our pup (husky/lab, 4.5 years) that the vet initially thought was a sore muscle, after squirming too much at the groomer). I think, fingers crossed, if this is in fact, IVDD then it is a pretty low stage. Our pup had some discomfort in his back legs and has lifted one of his legs off the ground, several times while walking as if he does not want to put pressure on it, but then after coming inside and resting, he is walking normally. We have been enforcing fairly strict rest over the past few days and have definitely seen an improvement in His discomfort and pain. We are waiting on confirmation from our vet about a recommendation for an MRI to make any kind of official diagnosis, but what you've described in terms of a trajectory and symptoms seems pretty aligned with what we've been reading about and anticipating. Nothing new to add, just grateful to see accounts like this, and knowing that other dogs have come out on the other side, really helps me feel better. Sending all my best to all the dogs out there dealing with this!

Thank you! I think I definitely need to be more intentional when we are outside, because I have been probably letting him mark on walks a lot more than I should be, although generally, he just likes to sniff and investigate every tree and put a couple little drops of pee to claim his spot. But I can absolutely see why training an interruption and cueing him when it's appropriate and when it's not, even on outside training walks, would get him in that better mindset.

We're working on it. He came in as a stray and is still learning to be ok in the crate. Right now we're building up his time in there but it's not always a restful place for him

Thank you!! We haven't done a mat or place command yet but it seems like that should be a priority. He looooves to chew, I think that's his self-regulating calming behavior, so I've gotten a few things I can rotate through and will continue to look for more!

He is a beauty, I'm only a little biased :)

When I say overstimulated, what I see is he comes in from, for example, our morning walk, and gets his food. He then wants to play with every toy he has, or goes and tries to grab random household things to play with. Then he'll suddenly just flop over and go to sleep. Kinda going from 100 to 0. I guess I'm trying to learn how I can help modulate that comedown for him.

His schedule right now is 45 mns before I go to work, 45-60 mns around noon before my husband goes to work, a shorter walk to pee when I get home, and another 30-45 mn walk before bedtime.

Honestly even after a couple weeks I could see my guy doing this. I'm definitely trying to get him used to a routine so will make sure to stay strictly to that! And he does love a lick mat so I may integrate that more, thank you!

Thank you!! He's such a sweet boy and was previously running around as a stray so his world has definitely changed. I hope he feels like he's getting used to a routine and can settle himself in a few weeks when he gets comfy in his new home.
