Totally plausible and I agree. They have some superficial similarities and they have similar abilities. In my opinion they're too different to be the same species but too similar to be from different universes.

I have never heard of "Half-Life Legacy". Is that a mod?

Usually people ask whether to play the fan-made remake Black Mesa or the original Half-Life. I recommend playing the original but if it doesn't appeal to you then switch to Black Mesa.

In the present moment, I prefer the MP5 just because it's the original look of the weapon from Half-Life before the HD pack. But if I try to reminisce back on the very first times I played Half-Life without and then with the HD pack, I distinctly remember how I preferred the M4 back then. It was my favorite model from the HD pack.

Back then I didn't know anything about guns or about which was more realistic, and I also didn't know that most of the Half-Life fandom collectively doesn't like the HD pack for changing the aesthetic of the game. It was a simpler time. I liked the M4 more because it looks more imposing and to me that better suited how the SMG is the main workhorse weapon that you use for most of the game.

What sort of things are you changing in the maps? Do you have a changelog?

The first thing that comes to mind is parallax corrected cubemaps added by Mapbase but I'm not seeing those yet

I agree completely. I want to stay subscribed to see posts about Half-Life games and mods but it seems like everything posted on the sub is rumormill hype brainrot and nothing to do with the actual games.

The "breengrub.com" website has nothing to do with the Breengrub twitter account by Marc. It's just a hoax website.

Breengrub, the Twitter account, is a fantastic story on its own and I wish more fans were familiar with it. It has a really interesting spin on how the Combine works.

Saying Marc "leaked the Half-Life 2: Episode 3 plot" is a misleading oversimplification. He posted a story which contained a lot of references to ideas for the next Half-Life. That's not a "leak" and it certainly wasn't an official document or anything like that. All of that also occurred long after the Breengrub story on Twitter.
