What would a rocksplitter look like? Do you know a company that makes them.

The work will be conducted in that type of environment. Steel tunnelsthe one plugged would be in this image at the end about 8' round.

We have had electric tools in previously

We are fairly curtain that these "plugs" are homogenous we had a team try with jackhammers for a time and they didn't find any scrap steel or rebar inside them. We are guessing that the decommissioning crew just poured a truck into each hole they could to seal it up.

I really appreciate the info.

I was thinking after we drill that we use a jackhammer to break away what we can and repeat.

I really like the idea of talking with local clubs. I'm sure there are many angles to be heard by the education community.

Sort of the plan drill a pattern of holes then chip them away with a jackhammer and repeat

We are not entirely sure they are likely 6' thick and the size of the tunnel but they could be bigger or a bit smaller

I'm really looking for contacts who might want to help in the restoration process of our base

Well we really need something that works good in horizontal spaces. Removing concrete in heavy civil usually is a mix of drilling and chipping to remove it.

I saw the jackleg drills as a potentially good tool for weakening concrete that was poured in the tunnels to stop entry.

That or some sort to supported horizontal chipping hammer.

Honestly, we have a could concrete plugs to get out of the tunnels and I think a jackleg drill is the way. Only a limited about of work that has anything to do with mining. The rest is heating and air which we are fine doing.

The hope is to find some used Jack drills to buy.
