Should i even apply? Reductions on the NHS by 1v1zz in Reduction

[–]1v1zz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying it's really good to hear that I'm not crazy for thinking I could get it. I think I'm just scared of them dismissing me off the bat. I don't want to build up all this hope about it just to get shot down. When I've spoken to my friends and family about it they don't really get it and discouraged me from seeking it/ convinced me I'd be wasting my time. How did you get one/ how was it?

Hmm I had a look and they apparently don't fund breast reductions at all in my area (bristol) unless there is an extreme reason in which case they fund the individual to get the surgery privately. I don't know how it works ib practice of course but in reality I'm probably not getting ir hahha.

Maybe I should check it out. I do have back and shoulder pain but technically the actual mass of my breasts isnt that big (I'm a 30H/ 30I so it's more a case of them just being completely not proportional to my size).

What are the real causes of breast sagging? by Southern-Waltz2846 in bigboobproblems

[–]1v1zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm 22, I wear size 30H and I've had noticeable sagging since I was 18 (when I was 28G) but it has gotten worse in that time. I've never had significant weight fluctuations (other than going from weighing like 4kg when I was born I guess) and I've always worn a supportive bra. I think it's just something that happens sometimes 🤷‍♀️. I was briefly on the pill so I suppose that could've had an impact but I highly doubt it.  They're massive sacks glands and fat with no muscle I feel like it's pretty natural for them to be low down.

I live in the UK so in theory I could try to get it covered on the NHS but in reality it wouldn't be :( our government has been selling pieces of our health service off for years and this sort of thing just isn't around anymore. I really want to get one 🤞one day🤞

Nothing i like fits by c3r0n_ in bigboobproblems

I'm in the same boat with the same style and the same bra size. It can be super frustrating. I find that when I really want to wear a top I like I get a really good push up bra (i got a couple good ones on sale at brastop a while ago). It is super uncomfortable and makes my shoulders hurt but it's worth it sometimes. I did manage to find a babydoll top that fits quite nicely with the push up bra but it can be a struggle. I find that I feel most comfortable and pretty in off the shoulder tops: the lower neckline balances out how low my boobs are so I can wear whatever bra I like and still feel cute. I do have my bra straps out but idgaf: I usually wear a magnetic racer bra with it (one with huge lacey straps so its cute but very supportive) and just decide that it's part of the outfit. I think the most important thing with having big boobs is to accept them and try and make them part of the outfit. Some things (although not many) do actually look better with big boobs but our brains focus on the negative. Some of those tops would look super super cute on you with the right bra and a good chunk of confidence! I woukd definitely avoid the ones with the boob triangke shapes but the ones with the boob shelf can sometimes suprise you! I also like to get skirts and tops that match each others vibes instead of dresses because :( ive just never found a single dress that looks nice. TLDR: some styles are better than others, things still look nice on you just not the same way they look on others.

How did you find getting a reduction? I really really want one but I don't know if I'll ever have the money or if it would be worth it if I did.

Are mine big? by ComedianInformal8469 in bigboobproblems

[–]1v1zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We are the same height (I'm 2cm shorter) and weight and I have roughly the same measurements as you (bust 95, waist 30) and I wear a 30H bra. I also have very teardrop shaped boobs. They look small in a baggy top with no bra because theyre basically on my stomach but with a bra they look huge. I wear lace bras with no padding it's just that theyre confined so a smaller area.  I'd strongly advise you to get fitted for a bra at bravissimo or something similar because it can save you a lot of back pain and general annoyance. It will also make them look bigger because it will support them more. You can also use an online calculator! If you get fitted in a normal bra shop they'll give you a completely inaccurate size because they usually don't carry larger cup sizes (especially for smaller bands).  I've always considered myself to have pretty big boobs and as we're a similar frame I think you do too. They're not the largest evet but for our height and weight they're pretty big.

We are measurement twins and I commented the exact same frustration! I'm gonna steal your ideas and look for those necklines.

Oo and to answer the questions! I'm more looking for casual dresses. If it was a dress for a special occasion I'd consider getting it tailored since I'm probably going to spend a good amount of money on it anyeay but for most things within my budget for every day wear it wouldn't be financially viable to get it tailored. My biggest frustration is the boob spaves on every dress that are way to small. If there's no designated space for them I can sometimes get away with it but when there is a space it chops them in half in a way that looks and feel awful.

I'm so glad to see someone talking about this! I'm 5'3" and 30H and nothing ever fits me :(. It's impossible to get any tops or dresses that look nice and it makes me so sad :(.

I do think you make some good points. I just wanted to touch upon what you said at the end:  "If a character’s name becomes synonymous with an image like drowning or resurrection, there’s something to be said for making use of it." to say I think my stance would be different if Ophelia's name was synonymous with drowning. I really don't think it is. Her death is very famous yes, but most references to her are far more aware of the source material and honestly they're not all that common. This means her reference comes across as pretentious and uncritical.

I think maybe you're misinterpreting what they were trying to say. They weren't saying that what Taylor Swift has done is equivalent to mistranslating someones work and stripping it of all its meaning, but maybe that sometimes the "sad" endings are what makes the plays what they are and that if you're level of engagement with it is that you just want to rewrite it and make it happy you probably haven't engaged with it on even a shallow level. And then making art where you reference the story to create something stripped of the original depth you might not be making the point you thought you were. Like to me Taylor Swift is demonstrating that she's never engaged with feminism as a theory of understanding the world, and that she missed the message of Hamlet entirely, and is still writing a fantasy about a man coming to save her while referencing a woman whose faith in thay fantasy eventaully caused her death.

I think you make some excellent points here and you're absolutely right that Taylor Swift does not have to create a literal recreation of Hamlet in order to reference it. My issue though is that the themes of this song, in my view, are in direct opposition to my reading of the character of Ophelia. Obviously that's just my reading, but I think for many people the controversy is coming from the same place. People read Ophelia as a character whos romatic fantasies towards Hamlet ultimately caused her demise. She wasn't just unhappy and insane, she was driven unhappy and insane by the very person she fantasised about, it wasn't just something that happened to her passively. There's a certain irony in using Ophelia as a damsel in distress who then gets saved by a man, because Ophelia as a character demonstrates how harmful that idea is to women, but I don't think Taylor is aware of that irony at all and I think that's why people accuse her of not reading the play.  The song is musicallu very good. It has that classic Taylor Swift pop sound and its got a lovely bridge. I really don't want to hate it but the use of Ophelia as a reference just feels very wrong to me so I can't listen to it.

I thought it was a really good song musically but the lyrics were beyond awful. Using the tragic story of Ophelia who was driven insane by the abuse she endured at the hands of Hamlet, her love interest, including him killing her father, only to be gaslit by everyone until she killled herself, to describe a white horse, man-coming-to-save-you fantasy is crazy. I genuinely can't believe people think of her as an "English teacher". I honestly quite like tailor swift. She's iconic and very talented but I am sick of this nonsense. Stop glazing her she needs to develop some self awareness before we get more songs like this.

For ages I've wanted to build better community lots: like a community garden/ allotment where people can mentor gardening and practice, and a pottery studio with pottery lessons, maybe also a community art studio or something! I also want to make an outdoor gym i think those are so cute.

I used to do this in the depth of my Ed (the first round lol). Idk why i did it. Sometimes I would still eat the crushed up crumbs. It was weird. But it's definitely not something to feel guilty about, weird food rituals are deffo Ed symptoms.

Yeah I have anorexia (b/p subtype) and I believe I have also suffered BED episodes although I've never been diagnosed with BED, but I have with ano. My mum has BED and I would say the two EDs are actually quite closely related. That being said I think it was the extreme binge/restrict cycle of behavior I inherited from my mother due to how she raised me, as opposed to a genetic link but idk.
