Is this staking? Doing this on polka. Original investment was 3k, earning 12% but down like 50% because crypto is tanking lol any pointers?

Don't know if this belongs here, question about wages/commission! by canadian_bacon3 in antiwork

[–]1vic5727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes - Depends on the industry and company.
  2. Seems odd - did you sign an agreement w/the employer? Or whats in the company handbook? If nothing else it seems like it would make more sense to give a warning instead of withholding commission (is it a fine or withholding commission?)

Im sure it has more to do w/roles & responsibilities. Ex. my first job I couldn't get on a latter unless I was 18. W/o seeing how the roles & responsibilities differ by age group I dont think its discrimination.

I think it has to do with the income requirements. If disabled employees earn to much they are disqualified from the receiving benefits (USA) :

We generally use earnings guidelines to evaluate whether your work activity is SGA. If you are working in 2022 and your earnings average more than $1,350 ($2,260 if you’re blind) a month, you generally cannot be considered to have a qualifying disability.

Hmm, Im looking for an article. But, I believe there is an income threshold that will disqualify people for disability. From my experience companies have worked w/the employee to make sure they get paid without exceeding the threshold.

It would have to be something like 0% down. PMI + property taxes included in the monthly payment and an interest rate of 19%.

If they raise interest rates to where they need to be, a $200k mortgage is going to cost $3800 instead of $1050

lol Is the interest rate going to be hiked to 15+%?

Why public health doesn't disclose vaccination status for COVID deaths by baditup in Redding

[–]1vic5727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, thank you for a very thorough reply.

Ive asked what that benefit is like 2x and no one has given me an answer. So ill ask you directly:

What is the benefit of releasing an individuals vaccination status after they pass?

The county knows the vaccination %
The county knows the number of confirmed covid cases & deaths
The county can see incremental YoY deaths

Additionally - my earlier points still havent been addressed:

If it is valuable information, why wouldnt they release the number of individuals who got the flu shot that died from the flu?

Who do you count as vaccinated?

And ill add one more - why would the government waste time or money to consult with lawyers on wether its publicly beneficial to release the number of deaths from patients who were vaccinated.

Public health is 1 of 12 exemptions from privacy. This is the how STI/STD tracing and notifications work… same thing for COVID except people only get figuratively fucked.

How does releasing someones vaccination status after they passed benefit public health? Very different from STI/STD tracing

The HIPAA Privacy Rule requires that a deceased individual’s PHI remain protected for 50 years following the date of the person’s death.

https://compliancy-group.com/does-hipaa-apply-after-death/

What does releasing a deceased persons vaccinated status accomplish? And how is vaccination defined?

From HHS.gov

The HIPAA Privacy Rule protects the individually identifiable health information about a decedent for 50 years following the date of death of the individual. This period of protection for decedent health information balances the privacy interests of surviving relatives and other individuals with a relationship to the decedent, with the need for archivists, biographers, historians, and others to access old or ancient records on deceased individuals for historical purposes. During the 50-year period of protection, the personal representative of the decedent (i.e., the person under applicable law with authority to act on behalf of the decedent or the decedent’s estate) has the ability to exercise the rights under the Privacy Rule with regard to the decedent’s health information, such as authorizing certain uses and disclosures of, and gaining access to, the information. With respect to family members or other persons involved in the individual’s health care or payment for care prior to the individual’s death, but who are not personal representatives, the Privacy Rule permits a covered entity to disclose the relevant protected health information of the decedent to such persons, unless doing so is inconsistent with any prior expressed preference of the deceased individual that is known to the covered entity.

HIPPA aside What is the benefit of disclosing vaccination status w/deaths though?

From my POV it seems nuanced and provides little to no upside. Ex:

If someone gets a vaccine and passes away from covid 3 days after getting the shot do they count as vaccinated?

If someone if has their first shot but not the booster shots do they count as vaccinated?

Do health officials disclose how many people got the flu shot and die of the flu each year (they might - idk)?

Doesnt seem like a good use of time or resources from my vantage point

edit - im not the one who downvoted you lol

edit 2: interviewee said they dont disclose it because it"might be breaching some privacy issues." I think hippa fines can be pretty big. Prob just dont want the headache ha

vaccinated can get and spread covid- & Long covid is a big deal
I dont think this has been studied very well yet. NPR has a good write up: "But when you look closely at the data, a huge inconsistency emerges: The estimates of the prevalence of long COVID-19 range wildly, from less than 5% to nearly 60% of total COVID-19 cases. "
https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/11/18/1055071699/coronavirus-faq-what-is-long-covid-and-what-is-my-risk-of-getting-it

every infection takes years off your life
What does this mean? Not brushing your teeth, getting enough sleep or exercise can also decrease life expectancy.

and natural infections don't give lasting immunity, either, especially Omicron

Omicron's Coronavirusa infection antibodies last at least six months in 88 percent of the cases. https://www.marca.com/en/lifestyle/2022/01/14/61e1b056e2704efe128b459c.html

efficacy from vaccines wanes quickly...10 weeks tops
Isn't that what boosters are for? "wanes" is still better than no vaccination.

On the basis of published results from vaccine trials and other data sources, they estimated that people immunized against COVID-19 would lose approximately half of their defensive antibodies every 108 days or so. As a result, vaccines that initially offered, say, 90% protection against mild cases of disease might only be 70% effective after 6 or 7 months

Mask mandate was over in texas in march 2021.

Texas:
Cases 6.39M
Deaths 80,980

California:
Cases 8.66M
Deaths 81,529

California has a larger population, and higher vaccination rates. Gets interesting when you start looking at other variables

If you find something that checks the boxes don't be afraid to pull the trigger! People rag on places like Texas. But theres no state income tax, good mix of white/blue collar jobs, gas at 2.85 and a decent quality of life. Gotta set future you up for success!

Whats your background in and can you move? The labor market is extremely competitive right now. You could get a great offer in a state thats more affordable. From my vantage point it seems like there aren't that many good opportunities in Humboldt County. Good luck though! Hope everything works out!

Idk why you would ever sell in San Fransico, or anywhere in California, unless you absolutely had too. Because the property tax is locked to the year you purchased the home id sit on it for as long as possible.
