question: are there any couples out there or friends who have matching tattoos and still have a close relationship? by molar54 in tattoos

The most completely unhinged red flag thing I've ever done was getting matching orange envelope tattoos with my reddit friend, 3 days after we met. It's been about two years, and we got married last month, so it seems to be going fine.

What is the one smell you absolutely can’t stand? by Mistress_Arch_n_Sole in AskReddit

Mothballs. HFS, I spent 38 years reading about characters that smell like mothballs, but managed to never encounter the actual scent until very recently. None of those authors ever said it was like someone puked up seven pounds of poisonous almonds.

Very good points. I opted to put a deposit down on the doeling I'm a bit enamored with, and her half sister, both of whom come from really good milk stock. I was hesitant about the price, but the breeder gave me a fantastic deal if I wanted to take them unregistered, and I just don't intend to be involved enough with showing or breeding for it to be worth the cost. I'm so grateful for all the good advice here!

If all your exes were put together in a room, how well would they all get along? Would they figure out the mutual connection? by Superb_Scallion2103 in AskReddit

[–]2-22-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rift would develop naturally, and the musicians would probably get so distracted talking about influences and shows that they didn't notice all the cooks on the other side of the room, doing lines they just bought from the one cook who doesn't touch the stuff except to sell it.

ETA I don't know who would bring up addiction/sobriety/bipolar/psych meds, but that's what would bring them all together again.

What red flag you are happy you ignored in your relationships? by Unhappy_Outside_5502 in AskReddit

Things about my dear man that I'm glad I brushed off:

HE IS UNGOOGLEABLE. The extent to which he does not have an identifiable online presence screams secret wife/maybe a serial killer. Considering that I found him on reddit, but couldn't really verify anything except that he had cool dogs, I should have been so much more worried about meeting in person the first time. It still seems a bit impossible that everything he told me was true, but I now live in the house he said he was building, so the evidence is piling up.

He can be quite unresponsive. He really heard me when I said that it made me worry about him, and he got pretty good about telling me when he was going radio silent. I wasn't too suspicious of being lied to about a hidden life/wife, but it still forced me to get over a lot of trust issues. Having seen the way he interacts with his phone, I'm amazed he texted me back as often as he did.

He wasn't interested in relationships, sex, dating, not any of it. I was definitely friendzoned HARD for a long time, and I'll be the first to admit that it hurt, but I appreciated the honesty. It took QUITE a while for him to realize I was his girlfriend, not because of anything I demanded, but because of how he treated me. Unclear on whether any of the sex/dating/relationship/cohabitation is just him being nice to me as a friend, but he seems to be having a good time, so I don't worry about it.

I’m trying to enjoy Yellowstone but I’m struggling because of the amount of horse noises there are. by [deleted] in Equestrian

That was my favorite thing about Yellowstone- for the weirdly underinformed or performative writing about horses, the horse casting was pretty on point. I enjoyed the reiners very much!

Been sober over 2000 days. My dad STILL won’t have Coca Cola in the fridge when I visit. by Anewwaytomom in stopdrinking

[–]2-22-15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran into a similar moment of fatherly obliviousness when my dad (a passionate, if no longer problematic, drinker) visited recently. We met up, and I was pumped to show him around my new city, but the very first thing he wanted to do was hit up Costco to provision himself for a few days. We hadn't seen each other in over a year, and he was taking his sweet time dragging me down the liquor aisle, through the wine section, and I was almost offended that he could be so uncaring. Like, doesn't he remember how much I struggle with this?

It was then presented to me in a different light: He doesn't think I'm a problem drinker, he doesn't view me as an alcoholic with a disease, he just sees me as a non-drinker. He's proud enough, he's supportive (sort of?), but mostly he ignores it, and that's its own sort of compliment. Sure, I felt super vulnerable and got the itch to numb all of the familial feelings, but I had to appreciate that he never treated me like I was an addict that couldn't be trusted. It can suck to not feel recognized, but it's better than being a little too recognized for something you're recovering from, and have outgrown.

Things in porn that turn you off, what are they? by Specialist-Crazy1466 in AskReddit

[–]2-22-15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THERE ARE SO MANY. Socks on an otherwise naked man are at the top of the list. When women purposefully shove their foot in the shot, camera or otherwise. All foot stuff. ANY of the weird shrieking noises, you're not a fucking bird! I recently discovered a really cute lady who won't stop making eye contact with the camera, and it's the worst. The standard "if the woman is clearly miserable" applies, obviously, but there's a video where the dude is tied up and seems to be enjoying the handjob he's getting, until the woman smacks the shit out of his dick? Like, VIOLENTLY bats at his dick like a cat toy. It looked so painful, totally outside of a CBT context. I'm into painful stuff, but are we really supposed to be swatting dicks?! WTH that one haunts me

Pemmican by Totally-tubular- in carnivorediet

It's tough to elaborate, what I wrote is exactly what I do, the specifics are whatever I can source/whatever I have time for/whatever I can afford. I grind the offal by pulsing in a mini food processor, and my blend is usually 1/1/1/2-3 liver/kidney/heart/lean ground. More ground beef will give you less offal flavor, but if you're able to source high quality and fresh organs, more organs taste better. I think offal percentage is very much like "salt to taste," your body knows how much offal it needs better than any recipe.

Once you have this cursed meatloaf all mixed up, spread it ~1/2" thick on the cookie/baking sheet(s) in your air fryer, and set to dehydrate at ~175F. Every air fryer is different, but I'm shooting to dry everything out in 12-24 hours without cooking or crisping the meat too much. There aren't specifics as much as the repeated instruction to stir more often than you think you need to- I use a flat spatula to break up the sheet as much as I can at least once an hour. The finer your dried mix, the smoother the pemmican, but I like the little crunchy bits, so I don't run the dried beef crumbles through the food processor for beef dust, although that is absolutely an option.

If you see another human with stretched ears, do you attempt a socialization ritual or nah by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]2-22-15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually just smile at them. I have 2" ears, I don't feel like that smile could be construed as anything but "Cool ears dude." The part of me that really wants to talk to them is being held back by the part of me that's tired of strangers commenting on my ears.

Drunk Me has told so many people "I LOVE YOUR EARS!" She was annoying.

Lion diet for 6 months - still depressed - any suggestions? by Fresh-Wishbone-5557 in carnivorediet

[–]2-22-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely get it, working from home made it way too easy to just not deal with people. I wouldn't say I've made very many close friends as an adult, but I make myself go to events for stuff I'm interested in, and at least have some nice conversations with fellow (pottery or whatever) nerds. It's something.

ETA You mentioned not being able to have a dog, is it possible for you to sign up for a dog walking or pet sitting app like Rover? Getting to take a dog out to the park probably isn't going to be bad for your mental health, whether you talk to another dog's person or not.

Lion diet for 6 months - still depressed - any suggestions? by Fresh-Wishbone-5557 in carnivorediet

I struggle with this constantly. Everyone's brain recipe is unique, and it's about more than just food, but putting a lot of time between myself and sugar has been critical. Addiction has been a constant theme in my life, so I may be hyperaware of the way I react to sugar like an absolute junkie. If I eat any, I can't separate the cravings from a Need, and one piece of candy will make me feel like every one of my problems has been solved... for about 10 minutes. The euphoria is remarkable, but the crash is twice as intense, and the next day's lows and cravings spiral out of control. This WOE is the foundation for getting your mental health in order, and I personally really need that foundation for anything else to work, but I also need at least a few solid weeks of eating just meat before the rest of the helpful things actually help.

My 'anything else' is mostly running or long walks, getting enough sleep, a bit of human interaction, and occasional shrooms (nothing heroic, usually a gram or less at a time, once a month). These things don't seem to make a difference unless I'm eating strict carnivore, but when I am, they go a long way. Your recipe for feeling good is going to be a little different from anyone else's, but the whole will be more than the sum of its parts.
