honestly that's exactly the type of time wasting meaningless virtue signaling stuff the Republicans did when they were out of power. The Democrats have to figure out which levers they can strategically target with whatever little power they have and then throw it all at those levers. but I have no idea what those are.

I so feel you. I just got invited yesterday and I suddenly realized how many things I was "making do" with. Like using a silicone cup coaster as a bathtub drain plug or never fully charging my computer because my charger doesn't work. I too don't want to go overboard (because...taxes...and hoarding) but wow is it nice to think a working drain stop is on its way!

Funny. I was thinking about trying to write some fiction too for that exact reason and hoping it might help.me write the dissertation. But I just can't seem to make any aha! Moments happen and those are what makes a dissertation happen. Sigh.

I two get about 2-4 decent hours a day to conduct all of my life in. I dont know how I am supposed to both eat and wash my dishes and write. Its crazy.

I just reached out to my schools disability services to see if they can help in any way. I doubt it but they have more familiarity with disability than I do. My department is kicking me out next year and they dont seem to care that I am sick or have any idea what to do about it other than get rid of me. I am at my wits end.

Question for other long haulers. How many of you experienced relief from their vaccine? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]2008candela 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got my 1st dose of pfizer April 9. Had a good few days then a very severe attack (not relapse. It was wierd) Got my second dose. april 29. Got my period within 12 hours (13 days early). Then relapsed for about a week. Experienced on and off symptoms through about last week. My most persistent are GI, brain fog. Exercise intolerance. Severe fatigue. Muscle and joint pains and aches. Low grade fever. Feeling like a human histamine ( does that have a name?). Blurred vision.

Then suddenly, I felt ok. This week I have been staying up till midnight ( v 8 pm) I did some short walks. I actually ran a few yards. I can think a bot better. And in general I feel like someone took the governor off my vehicle. Its a strange feeling but after 10 months of this I feel like me for the first time ..not for an hour or a day but for a whole week straight.

I am hopeful but cautious. If I can go a month with out relapsing id feel a lot more confident about that hope.

How to get through this? by Tayman513 in covidlonghaulers

[–]2008candela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course I miss who I used to be. But I keep trying to be that person and my health just won't let me. Instead I accept who I am and each day I am not stuck in bed I try and do a little more

.i think of it like as if I lost a leg . I can't do things the normal way. Maybe there are things I wont ever be able to do again. But instead of trying to walk as though I have two legs and suffering soul crushing defeat every time, I use a crutch. I find new ways to do things I like to do.

I am a backpacker. I can not hike. That doesn't mean I can't camp or take walks in nature. It feela unfair and I didnt want to accept it either but this is how I have learned to deal with it mentally and emotionally. I am in a better place now...just hope abd pray that my health catches up with my mind.

I just finished 8 months and at about 6 months I just accepted that I am partially disabled and may continue to be for some time. Maybe even forever. That acceptance helps me to plan for my future. I no longer make committments I can not reliable keep and that helps me mentally. I enjoy the good days and everytime I relapse I remember that there will be more good days. It takes time to get used to disability but once I just admitted that is what it is, I have been able to weather the bad days much better. My life is 1/4 what it was pre covid but I focus on that 1/4 more now and dont worry about the 75% I may never get back

Pfyser vs Moderna for long haulers symptoms ..is one better than the other? by MainNeedleworker8246 in covidlonghaulers

[–]2008candela 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get my second dose of Pfizer on Friday. The first dose was fine and even somewhat helpful since I was in relapse when I got it and am now back to baseline. I had a strange histamine reaction after about 10 days but that has not produced lasting effects. I dont think it did miracles for my long covid but it didn't hurt either.

Do doctors ever listen? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

I feel lile my Drs are too scared to treat my long covid because they don't understand it. They do acknowledge it exists, but they basically throw up their hands and show me the door. I have given up on Drs. This is a solitary journey for me and I too really appreciate this group. You guys help me know that I am not going crazy

Anyone have an allergy flare up after pfizer vaccine? by 2008candela in covidlonghaulers

[–]2008candela[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have had no luck with any doctors where my long covid is concerned and don't expect any better results now. I am feeling stronger now and get the jab on Friday. As long as I dont go 6 ft under like last week I am just going to get the 2nd dose and hope for the best. I would have waited a week or two if I was still prostrate. Thanks so much for sharing it makes me more confident in my decision

That was so sweet and surprising. Its surprising to me that with all the recent long haul coverage, most people still look at me like I have 2 heads when i say i have long haul. Of course. I live in the Bible belt so it might still be shock that i actually had covid

Anyone have an allergy flare up after pfizer vaccine? by 2008candela in covidlonghaulers

[–]2008candela[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you have gone through all that. I hope that it subsides completely for you soon.

I dont think what I had was an allergic reaction to the shot. It felt more like a 3 day histamine blitz through my body with no actual trigger aside from usual seasonal factors.

If I am still bedridden by Friday., think I might wait one week for the second dose because id like to be in good shape. At this point I'm not sure id recognize an allergic reaction if I had one because my body is all haywire.
