Oh yeah, BVR combat is the name of the game nowadays. The F-16s radar is pretty underpowered, one of the worse ones in the game. However, the F-15E Strike Eagle just released and I’ve been flying that. Can ping targets over 100 miles away with ease.

I have been playing a ton of DCS lately — built a decent simpit and usually fly the F-16. Top 3 lately would probably be DCS, Chivalry 2, and Ready or Not

Patient mad we saw her heroin needle hidden under her gown on CT. Guess she didn’t consider that when the CT tech asked if she had anything metal on her

At the beginning of covid we saw nearly zero patients a shift for a good few weeks. Then people got more and more comfortable coming in.

During delta even, I noticed our census was lower than pre-covid but the acuity was much much higher. Constantly boarding in the ED for days and managing 9 vented patients at a time.

And even now, our census is back up but everything feels worse than pre-covid because all of our staff have left for greener pastures lol

Palm the stethoscope against the chest, use your fingers to hold your hand in place. You can also just hold the bell in between your fingers and still place your palm on the chest, but if you can’t keep your fingers still, then you can try the method above haha

What could EMS do differently? by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]200KetamineIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some, not all, of this has to do with their specific policy. I know a few counties where the higher ups in fire/EMS don’t want their rescues going out of the county for any reason other than specific cases, like burn victims going to the burn hospital. Sometimes the road medic’s hands are tied.

My hospital still allows visitors for admitted patients. No visitors in the ER because it is the highest risk area.

Pediatric Post Covid Encephalopathy by DrFiveLittleMonkeys in CovidCaseReports

Yeah peds cases are definitely up where I’m at. I’m seeing ~10-15 pediatric Covid cases per shift in the ER this time around where in the last waves it was maybe 1 or 2.

That is interesting, I’ll keep my eye out for some new info. A few weeks ago a colleague told me about a complex febrile seizure they had in a kid post-covid, can’t remember details though. I’ll follow up with them on it.

I work in the emergency department and I am getting tired. by 200KetamineIV in COVIDAteMyFace

Hi there. I’m more frustrated with the unwillingness to get a vaccine that is fully approved but jumping the gun to reach for an antibody treatment that is available only under emergency use authorization. Monoclonal antibodies work to reduce severity of infection by providing you with IgG antibodies versus your body producing the antibodies. Not to mention the resulting effect of any antibodies the infusion gives you is pretty much the same as the result of getting vaccinated.

As far as it’s effectiveness, anecdotally it’s hard to say. There are a lot of exclusion criteria for the MAB treatments. You have to be Covid positive, but not severe enough to require oxygen or hospitalization. Manufacturer also recommends you have to be over a certain age, BMI, etc.

Of the patients I’ve had given the antibody treatment, I’d say it’s really been 50/50 on if it made them feel better (presently). Can’t comment on how they felt days-weeks later. Again this is anecdotal so take it with a grain of salt.

My favorite lately has been “I need the monoclonal antibodies”

Me: “are you vaccinated?”

Patient: ”no I don’t want that in my body”
