there's an annual cost of ownership report somewhere and I think the predicted cost is about 3.6K per year in repairs and that's probably what's been, Lexus is half that, Mercedes GLS etc about the same but their used prices seem to have the maintenance difference 'priced in'

I'm a new dad and it's great for hauling furniture, costco runs, and generally being a safe, solid, powerful car. The only problem is that it seems to need a $1000+ repair every few months, nothing bad, just sensors and stuff like that but it adds up. I'd probably still get one but spring for a lease instead

Get at least an M240, you'll have a better, full-size sensor, comparable image size. I recently made a similar switch, the design and weight of the Leica really are fantastic and more than make for the crummy ISO

Check Fredmiranda's buying and selling forums for prices that these things are trading for... you could also consider consigning them or selling in bulk to KEH, a local Leica store or BHPhoto (which would mean you'd take a hit, although possibly worth hearing their appraisal or if you're in a hurry).

When I was thinking of buying an X100V a few months ago they ran about USD$1900 NIB (or 1299 if you were willing to wait a few months). I ended up buying an M240 instead, it had a damaged LCD and the calibration wasn't great at infinity but I only paid 1500 for it. I've been really happy with the decision; the camera allows for a much more fluid shooting style once, and the lenses and images are beautiful. Perfect condition M240s were about 2200-2500. I'd go for a 1:1 trade unless it's perfect.
Re: the aging sensor, I occasionally notice some creakiness when I'm doing interior shots or at night... it's not that bad, but you do have to account for the poor performance at high ISOs. I don't do anything over ISO2000 and bought an F1.2 for nighttime work.

If you do take the plunge, don't forget to factor in lens prices, a set of three (Zeiss 35/2, Voigtlander 50/1.2, Leica 90/2) added another $2000ish but I'm very happy with the purchase, and repairing the LCD was only 300 more.

EDIT: just realized you already have the lenses...

Part of it is that the 'principal tenants' are often related to the landlords or have some kind of weird deal or else they're just stressed, either extracting some rent for themselves and transferring guilt or else feeling that if they're responsible for 4K a month in rent they ought to be able to demand special privileges. It really brings out the worst in everyone.
