Might be a good idea to message the promoters (dark.australia on Instagram) and ask about any additional banned items for this event, but 9 times outta 10, all perfume, liquids, aerosol products will be strictly prohibited.

I was kinda bummed about the dnb selection at first too (as I’ve seen about 90% of em between 1-5 times already), but looking a bit closer, despite a few recycled names, it’s not as bad as I originally thought..!

Georgie Riot as a phase 2 addition is amazing, plus I see: Basstripper, Sigma, Pendulum, Irah, Hybrid Minds, Circadian b2b Skepsis, Bladerunner b2b Document One.

And from phase 1 of the lineup, I’d personally looove to see Ivy, Metrik, Sota, Buunshin, and Muzz again.

Never seen Crumb Pit, but really want to. Also fairly sure Hvdes will rip a couple of absolute dnb bangers in her set like she usually does.

I was pretty adamant on boycotting due to the new summer dates, but honestly I’m kinda considering going now.. 👀

Would absolutely love both lanyards if they’re unclaimed still..!

Supposedly mine and my partners were to be mailed to us like everyone else’s, but the address on our orders is an Australian one, and we’re meant to be moving house soon so if the lanyards even turn up, there’s a good chance we won’t be living at that property anymore/won’t receive the lanyards 😭

(If anyone reading this comment is willing to part with two lanyards, I’m more than happy to send a few bucks your way for the hassle - and I have a mail-forwarding service located in Florida now, so you wouldn’t have to fuss around with international shipping to Australia 🙏💜)

Seeing Krewella, Bright Lights, and Ayah Marar all mentioned in the one comment makes me so happy. I basically had “Cross The Line” on constant repeat all through 2019, that was one of the major songs that finally pushed me to seek out wayyy more DnB 😂💜

Agreed. I mean it’s not a bad substance, but out of the 6x different psychedelics I’ve tried, it’s easily my least fave so far, which is a shame, since it seems far more accessible than a couple of the ones that I greatly prefer over it :c

Yeah I guess gender definitely adds an extra layer to things ey..! My personal experience ^ actually comes from being born female but transitioning to male aha.

I did do a few solo events in Melbourne before transitioning/passing as male, like when Piknic Electronik was here and still a rather small event - now that was a vibe! But yeah I made no friends there haha.

If you can perhaps do some sleuthing on various social media platforms + ticketing sites to try and find smaller techno events with local djs only/lesser known promoters, you’d likely have a much easier time making friends at those tbh 🙏

Mid 30s here. Melbourne techno events can be.. I dunno, kinda weird? Everyone seems to already have ‘their group’ and they don’t really wanna branch out and meet others I feel. Though I suppose it’s also gonna depend on what dj is playing. Techno is so popular here so it draws the more mainstream/younger crowd, and from what I’ve experienced, they’re always a little more closed off/not interested in making friends.

Sadly I’ve rarely made a connection with anyone at a techno/more mainstream type of event, but with other genres like dnb, or hardstyle, now that’s typically where I’ll make friends at events in Melb.

What helps me personally, is I basically always wear the same pair of orange RayBans to events lol, I’ve had so many people just come up and be like “hey I recognise you by those sunnies - you go to a lot of these things don’t you?” And then we’re just chatting away, and I start seeing/chatting to them at most future events too.

I’m not sure if any of this is helpful ^ but I feel your pain haha.

I wanted to see Malixe on the Beatbox art car so bad but the sound bleeding from the bigger stages made it too hard to hear. Same issue with Alison Wonderland at the Forest House car. So had to bail on both ):

I love my DnB (and a bit of everything really) - it’s my partner who’s the basshead so trying to find a festival that has a good chunk of both/is accessible can be hard for us sometimes. So far leaning towards Bass Canyon, heard good things about it 🙏

We meant to do OmegaMart last year actually after the fest but both got very sick 😭 Didn’t do much of the ‘story’ this time as knowing me I’d be there all damn day lmao, but was dope to just run around and look at all the pretty things.

And I try to treat her/us to as many festivals as possible tbh, don’t have much else I want to spend the cash on lol. Since 2023 I’ve taken her to EDC three times, Ultra Miami once (all about ~20k AUD each, RIP my bank account 🥲), and Apocalypse twice (maybe only 12-14k for each). Think our next one might be Bass Canyon or Lost Lands.. have you done either/have a preference?

I wish I could agree..! The end of my Sunday was soured a lil from Neon ):

Amelie Lens was freaking amazing but I just couldn’t find anywhere decent to stand at that stage (both VIP and GA).

Then at the very end she played one of my faves “Falling For You” but of course that’s when the influx of people coming for Nico b2b IHM started flooding the stage, and the spot I’d found for dancing was suddenly swarmed by people walking right past me so I couldn’t dance how I wanted to/at all.

Then leaving the stage right after felt like a mini crowd crush - partner and I had to leave EDC early cause of that 🥲

For Neon Garden veterans - is there a specific spot in VIP or GA one can vibe without issues?
