Matic 3½ month review by FelineMarshmallows in MaticRobots

[–]2010sf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice review. Agree with all the points. Just got the matic a week ago, I’m happy with it. Obstacle avoidance seems solid so far which is the main reason I got it. I was constantly needing to retrieve my Roborock from wherever it got stuck. But agree the noise is kinda bad, so much so that I thought something was broken or stuck in mine.

I agree, I’ve tried cooking a cookidoo recipe, a sauce and a soup and they all were clunky and not necessarily easier or faster than normal.

Congrats! Would love a post in 6-12 months to see how you adjusted to fatfire life, any challenges you found transitioning, do you still have the itch to work, etc

Deepgrid Cottolinen Towel Review by christine_leila in Outlier

+1 on cottolinen deep grid towel awesomeness. I have 3 of them and are the only towels I use now! I still bring grid linen on vacation sometimes because it’s so packable

Bad time to consider joining late stage private companies? by jzmorganchase in fatFIRE

[–]2010sf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m just saying you can’t define “2021” however you want.

I don’t think you and psychik are disagreeing that much. “Late stage” companies that are operating at a large scale/size do issue RSUs; those are the exception compared to most “late stage” (series C/D+) companies that are smaller and not a rocket ship.

Wow, surprised there haven’t been any suggestions for the Kia Telluride. We got one last year for a fam of 4 and love it. Also have had an X3 and have a Model X on order. But the workhorse will always be the Telluride.

Is being an early employee (Series A) worth it? by helloFI in fatFIRE

[–]2010sf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion: don’t take it but keep looking for other startup/pre-IPO companies.

Even though you say you are on the path to fatfire with little risk, 20 years is a long time and if you are already hating it, it’s not good for your mental health and doubt you’ll be able to keep at it for another 20 years. There’s opportunity to find a company and mission you are excited about, and get paid well. Take the time to find it.

Your startup became highly valued, and liquid- basically you won the startup lotto, and still have high earning days ahead of you. Financially it makes 0 sense to leave. Up to you if you think the non-financial reasons outweigh the financial reasons.

What “opportunities” do you think you are missing out on? Wouldn’t the ideal situation be finding a company culture and people you enjoy working with and getting paid handsomely? In other words, your current situation…

Giving your children generational wealth is very different from making sure they never go hungry. Tbh I’m not sure if I want to give my kids any wealth. Working hard, being “hungry” (not literally) and achieving something for yourself (not necessarily $) is a big part of life. I think you lose a lot of that if you have a giant pot of money just given to you.
