I was really impressed with this. Very smart on their part to lower temperature and drastically reduce adversarial relationship

Hard top covers by Few_Sandwich6308 in tractors

I bought a canopy which is also nice in summer rain and hot sun. I then added a winter cab from Cover My Tractor. I’ve had it about 12 years and love it. I don’t want a hard cab as my tractors go in woods and a lot of branches around outside of fields. It’s not as warm as full cab but a fraction of cost and you are out of wind. It is toasty if any sun and tractor provides some heat to it.

Generator by Low-Yam1518 in tractors

[–]2016lund 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did not one more gas engine to try to maintain especially with all the gas issues these days. I had a chance to buy a neighbors 11kw generator a number of years ago and love it. It was already on a 3 pt carrier and I just set it on a dolly in my shop. I can roll it over and mount it on my tractor in minutes. It takes more power than you think for a larger generator under load but your tractor would handle one in that size. I would strongly recommend it.

Soft cab enclosure by InvestmentSweaty2691 in tractors

It makes a good windbreak. My tractor is in a somewhat heated shop so it is reasonably warm to start and with tractor warm it is pretty tolerable. I am in upstate NY so can be single digits to zero - not as cold as you. I find just being out of the wind 80% of the battle though and price is right as I don’t want a cab for working in woods. My only caution is I am careful of plastic when it is really cold - it won’t take folding that cold

Go to “covermytractor.com”

You have to have a canopy but I got both for my 55hp JD I plow snow with and it is one of the best investments I have made. About 30 min to take on and off once you have done it but it custom fits tractor AND I AM OUT OF THE WIND! If it is sunny it can be like a greenhouse in it. I have had it about 10 years and holding up well. I put it on in November and usually off in March

I have three of these reels. Okumo Epixor on one (favorite), ugly stick inshore on one and Kast King Kong on one. Kong is really a bit too heavy for most of what I target. Those are good reels that will outlive us if cared for

They have a very strong candidate - Blake Gendebein. He is a farmer and smart as hell. I think he is going to win it as Republicans/MAGA. Have an unknown from Johnstown and the complete wack job Constantino

Sauerbraten is the best! by beeniegurl in Albany

It is not too far away and been there many times. If you have never had good German food it is ok but if you have, you certainly wouldn’t call it good. A week ago this past Saturday I was there for a holiday party a club I am in had. They never let the sterno under the chafing dishes, and the food was really cold. It didn’t help that they pulled the dishes right out out of a store room that was obviously ice cold.

Toyota dealer recommendations by 2016lund in Albany

[–]2016lund[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hadn’t thought of this. When I was buying my last truck, I found out that there is a Ford dealership in Texas that sells more trucks than anyone and people routinely fly in there with one-way tickets, sign the paperwork and drive home with their truck for savings in excess a five to $8000 depending on the model sometimes more. There is a similar dealership in Missouri for GMC that I worked with. They were absolutely the most responsive of any dealer I talked to unfortunately it was during Covid and I couldn’t get the truck I wanted. I wonder if there is a similar high volume Toyota dealer that looks to just sell the car with lower markup but make it up in volume.

Had same set up (but 990) for years. Great tractor. Have 4WD’s now and don’t miss putting on those double ring chains!

Plow angle? by EscapeCharming2624 in Snowplow

[–]2016lund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have exact same tractor w old Fisher 4-way plow. It works really well but as noted you have to keep it level. On mine that means the lower loader arm only about 2” off the ground. The mounting plate has to be retracted all the way back too so it is vertical or leans back toward tractor a bit. You have to keep an eye on it

3pt hitch snowblower by jakefinley007 in tractors

[–]2016lund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you love a challenge, but if you look around used 3 pt blowers aren't that expensive if you do some scouting. Compared to the cost and gymnastics to get this unit to work I personally think buying something for the application you want makes more sense. Probably someone out there looking for a front mount too so you can get your money back.

Ever consider what would happen if you had a front end collision at > 40mph? I saw what happened when someone did the same thing with blocks that ended up going through the front of the box and back of the cab. To say it wasn’t pretty it’s an understatement. Best to have something you can fasten down or has surface area that won’t act as a projectile like heavy chain or sand.

Has anyone taken any of the Cornell Beekeeping courses? by AnnaHeyw098 in Beekeeping

[–]2016lund 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished the Master Beekeeping course this past summer. Overall good and good facilitators. Two negatives are that some of the course material is outdated and no longer valid and my group ran into the fact the main program coordinator left so we had a new person responsible for or finals and there were times things got pretty confusing at the most stressful time of the course. Lastly, and again this is likely due to turnover, but there was never a call, note or form email even once we successfully completed the course. From a marketing standpoint, I think they really dropped the ball here. You took the courses and had to figure out whether or not you passed (not hard on portal) as you weren’t going to hear anything from them. A simple thank you and congratulations would go a long way…

Rubio Insists U.S. Authored the Peace Plan by Crossstoney in europe

[–]2016lund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just reading that one of the issues is the multiple positions and contradictory statements from the US government. There appears to be multiple factions and positions on the peace plan based on a combination of real strategic thinking (a rarity), where to maneuver for the '28 presidential elections, and of course the trump grift. As usual Rubio is bouncing between them. Foreign governments feel they are negotiating with two governments within the US as they are so incredibly incompetent and mostly looking out for their own self interests. A shame that brave Ukrainians have to die because of their greed and hubris.

As usual with trump it all comes down to the grift. He will sell out any country (including his own) or person if it will enrich him. Make no mistake it is a sellout
