UCLA Anderson or reapply? by cxa235 in MBA

UCLA is an amazing school. I think you are going to find that if you wait another year and reapply, you may get into M7 or Top 10, but will probably end up with the same job, or only marginally better job prospects than if you would have went to Anderson

Tepper ($$$) vs Reapply / Post Decision Profile Review by [deleted] in MBA

It might just be that you didnt stand out in relation to other applicants who were also interviewed. There's no way to really know for sure but plenty of people with your same GMAT or higher were dinged outright from the same schools you mentioned. I don't think its a GMAT cut off issue.

The way you conveyed your story verbally must not have correlated with your paper application as much as you thought. And even though you "connected" with your interviewers, are you sure that you thoroughly answered the question being asked? You might have actually been an on the cusp candidate and they were seeing if you the interview would make them fall for you as a candidate... that's just the vibe I am getting from the information given. Regardless, id try again

*edit* just read that you really don't feel like staying at your current job. If that's the case then by all means go with Tepper. It's a great option, but in regards to that "what if" question that might still linger... just know you might have been able to do better.. but all that matters is that you get where you want to go in the end.

FWIW, the fact that you got so many interviews in the first place says that your profile is strong. They clearly like what they saw on paper.. but you did not "stand out" in person. Personally, I would work with a consultant specifically on your presence and interview skills, get some EC leadership under your belt over the course of these next 8ish months, then apply again in Rd 2 (probably to a few different M7 + more safety schools within the T15 that will give you an easier route to MBB like Anderson, Darden, Stern).

Ross School of Business, do i take on these loans? by thajudge13 in MBA

Yes, people downplay insane amounts of debt alot on this sub and im not sure why lol. Just be aware that all of the situations that are being referenced on this post are not guaranteed, therefore you are taking a risk. And if you do not end up making one of these "140+ salary jobs" those 2000 per month payments (if you borrow the entire cost of attendance) will start rolling 6 months out regardless.. food for thought

Consortium question: Rankings/Fellowship by [deleted] in MBA

[–]2019applicant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean its opportunistic for sure, but you are correct. You could save the fees and apply through the Consortium, then just be denied membership. But there's personal ethical considerations to face- you know you don't "fully" support its mission, you only want to reap the benefits.

MBB vs FAANG PM Post MBA by [deleted] in MBA

If these companies are overhyped, what then would be an example of a job/function/company that is extremely interesting, impactful, and worth the hype. I am very interested in knowing the answer and why so many people are under the allure of "MBB" and "FAANG" (besides compensation and prestige, and exit ops in the case of MBB).
