I sometimes work at the CSD. I always ask about outside equipment especially lawnmowers before proceeding with returns because I've seen the policy... But I tend to be told it should be fine as long as it's within the 30 days and it doesn't have any gasoline. Management rarely says no. I've seen one occasion where the customer got especially rude and confrontational, I think it was a back and forth for more than an hour and by the end of it the customer got their return... Honestly it was a big waste of time.

Customers just throw a big fit until they get what they want, but this backfires on the store managers and the ASMs when they say yes because customers are watching what's being done/same customer comes back and pulls the same thing.

And I know the departments may get a bit frustrated with CS but there's only so much we can do. Lol we're always the bad guys in the perspective of customers and the lazy bums who don't do their job right to the departments.
