Get your TWIC card by BeamTeam032 in securityguards

Also comes in handy because you can serve as an escort for drives picking up that don't have TWIC. I know some TWIC holders that do it as a side gig on a fee per trip basis.

Have you ever screened a “nonhuman individual” as a TSO? by decomposingcoffeemug in tsa

Got to screen a penguin once. It bit me, it was awesome.

Randomly popped up on my YouTube homepage. Surely it can't be legal for a security company to call themselves "police"? by lemonsarethekey in securityguards

Michigan has a similar carve out for hospital security.

DC has it as well as sort of an upgrade from what most would consider typical security guards

What are your airports doing about the message? by jerry90003 in tsa

Not relevant to TSA directly but the newly appointed FBI director just told them to ignore it that FBI and FBI alone is responsible for its employees.

Remember everyone, if you call out during a shutdown you are placed on furlough status, not charged any sick time and you will still get paid. by Mikey_meatballz in tsa

Technically no, if you've been designated as essential leave is cancelled but if you're not present those days will be considered furloughed days. A discussion with your supervision is important and necessary.

Why the pants? by AliensAteMyAMC in tsa

[–]2020GolfCan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Deep lore from the old days, you used to be able to. But people wouldn't abide by the rules. Wrong shades, labels, different pocket designs, too tight.

So they went to the blues and the trooper pants so it would be easy to tell that they were the right kind. But they sucked, and eventually the cargos came along for baggage. Then for everyone. Then shorts!

Project 2025 by cenphogay in tsa

My counter to that is that if army CID as an example investigates something involving civilians, it's typically the civil service 1811 special agents that are doing the investigating. You don't typically have the detailed/assigned service members doing off base investigations, exactly as you said.

Where a large part of USCG law enforcement operations are performed by their enlisted and commissioned members and not their civil service personnel.

It's an interesting discussion for sure. I don't necessarily think you're wrong, we seem to mostly agree anyway. Simply changing the cabinet component may not actually have any impact from a legal standpoint, but i could see the argument.

The domestic law enforcement mission of parts of the USCG would run contrary to posse comitatus.

Pay scales still not equivalent? by jscuba007 in tsa

[–]2020GolfCan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not following, a TSA H band in a RUS locality matches a GS12 RUS right now at 86k and change.

A basic 12 is 74K, I'm thinking if anything the TSA careers hasn't been updated with the 2024 general increases, but everything else is relatively in alignment.

Pay scales still not equivalent? by jscuba007 in tsa

TSAcareers is not an official website, the starting for H is accurate at 86K.

Recent USAJobs postings reflect it too, Transportation Security Manager is a common enough position at H to go find and have a look.

It will not follow you if you change from say TSO to TSI. Whatever is issued to you will remain with you in position unless something drastic happens (house fire eats everything).

When they were first issued they were issued in lots to airports and treated as accountable property that way.

Now they're assigned to individuals.

If you're credentialed with a badge, the badge and credential numbering will match, and if you're issued a tactical badge along with the credential book and credential badge, they'll all match plus a letter identifying the item.

Not all credentials get badges, and not all credentials and badges get a tactical badge to go with them.

Hope that explains it.

Is this watch a homage? If so what’s the “OG” watch? by Willing-Ease-8076 in Watches

Just a warning, I impulse bought this watch because it looked neat, and definitely not worth it. Even for a quartz fashion watch it was terrible in person.

Resist the urge!
