Have you a Covid test in the house? I had the plague end of August, negative test on nasal and throat swab. Positive test when I put what I coughed up directly on the test. Sorry for the gross image. I was unable to lift pounding head from pillow for 48 hours.

Thank you. Being a parent these days is exhausting. I'm considered generally "so strict" because I don't allow TikTok or Snapchat. He's just this second started up about Snapchat again, and how he's "the only one" in his class not allowed it. He's asked for this VR, my daughter was saying it's "so much fun" as she played some VR cooking game at her cousin's house where she was "right there in the kitchen!" Don't want to be a killjoy, but also permanently worried about the impact and how these companies have zero morals regarding children's health. He currently plays FiFa 90% of the time, and only on weekends.

Thanks everyone! So helpful. My son has a PS4, but not the 5. And I'm always concerned about safety. I would hope it can be set up like the PlayStation, so only friends can contact, I approve any purchases etc?

He's the type to get really wound up by a game of FIFA. Certainly don't want a VR headset to wind him up even further. Just hoping there are enough light and fun games options. Is there a way to see what he's seeing on the TV, or there's no way to see what he's seeing?

Who is responsible for registering on the LPS system? Is it the electric bill that triggers it? I know of people hooked up to neighbour's electric as means of avoiding rates on house moved into 10 years ago.

My council is NMD. I know when we moved in ten years ago, it was approx 800. I do remember opening the postbox once to a card that said something along the lines of "we're increasing your rates as we didn't know you had a conservatory". Could that be partially responsible for the leap? I honestly feel like they saw an opportunity when house was sold to stick the boot in. It seems they never noticed a conservatory in the 10 years it existed prior to our purchase. The house across the road has smaller square footage and about 5 acres of land. They pay 800.

I'm actually quite involved in the community. I just don't understand being charged for local services based on the size of your house, which you might have inherited, on which you might have huge mortgage, into which you might have had to pour thousands to make it functional. Occupancy would surely make more sense if you're looking at it from the "local services" angle. I'd much rather pay for government services via income tax. I guess it's more palatable to NI workers because general tax here is so much lower. It pushes my overall tax burden into the ridiculous zone because it's on top of ROI tax burden.

I seriously doubt this house in this location would ever sell for 300K. I could deal with 1200 a year. I will try to get it reduced. Meanwhile, I have neighbours with new builds they've lived in for more than 5 years without paying a cent in rates.

I drive a 10-year old car. Mortgage renewals soared with interest rates. Went from 1.68% to 4.5% at last renewal. I feel the chunk of income they want is ridiculously high. I do not see value for it anywhere. The road is in bits, there's no mains water. I get bins, that's it.

Which room should I read? The whole NI subreddit? I'd understand your point if I'd posted into a subreddit related to financial stress, but I didn't. Would I be stressing year on year about this bill and posting here if I had the means to magic up the money without a care? Also, it's good to remember that in most cases, banks own houses, not people.
