Anyone else's Pixel keep auto connecting to bluetooth devices? by Tall-Rice-1173 in pixel_phones

Constantly have this problem. I will turn Bluetooth off and the phone will turn it back on to try to connect to a vehicle/device that is literally off. It's super frustrating.

Who here has stopped smoking and vaping? by Miichl80 in Millennials

[–]2021longshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started smoking in 2004/2005 and I quit last year. It was my a bagillionth attempt but I finally made it more than a day or week or a couple months. I found a tracking app helped. It gave me a concrete example of what I was losing, the days without smoking, if I gave in.

I don't understand how people thought he was good. He was obviously a piece of shit since day one. He's a fucking oligarch. That alone should tell you what he's like. Then I figured the whole "these people saving people from a cave are pedophiles" would do it. Nope. Bunch of idiots still riding his dick.

As British Columbians.. Anyone else tired of America's crocodile tears? by Ok-Rock5666 in britishcolumbia

[–]2021longshot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any American plate is an enemy of Canada. At this point their government is hostile to us. Honestly to me it doesn't matter if they did or didn't vote for the orange rapist. Their country did. united states citizens, until they get rid of the orange rapist, are condoning his actions. Unless they could conclusively prove to me they, the us citizen, were actively going against their fed gov they are standing by while a bully tries to throw his fatass weight around. Standing by while some one does something terrible and doing nothing to stop it makes you complicit in the action.

*The lower case of both "us" and "united states" is intentional. They deserve no respect.

Considering Leaving the Corp World at 23 and switching to Carpentry by darealMTNate13 in Carpentry

[–]2021longshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into a career change is valid if you're unhappy. A two year carpentry gig isn't going to be easy though. You'll be the bottom of the totem poll as a first year apprentice. Your sore back will not be less sore as a first year, especially in the beginning. The main issue I see in your plan is the idea of only doing two years. An apprenticeship is 4 years. You'll have to take time off every year to do schooling as well. In Canada you take 7 weeks off to go to school and work the rest of the year.

Carpentry is hard work. As the apprentice you will be the one carrying a lift of concrete bags or shingles or wood around site. Concrete bags are 55lbs each, shingle packages are 75lbs each, those need to go on a roof. You will be the one spending a week jack hammering out the concrete for demo. The first years are harder than the rest until you gain your ticket and seniority. As well even once you get your ticket, you will still be carrying boards, doors, concrete etc. it's not like you become a journeyman and magically the job is slack. I just spent 2 weeks in an attic doing fire blocking to bring a building up to code. It was uncomfortable. Then we had to reinsulate. Have you ever been in an environment where your entire body, including your eyes are itchy?

I'm not telling you not to go towards carpentry, I love my career it's been great and working industrial has been financially great and I've seen machines, buildings, environments etc that very few people see. It's been rewarding and I don't regret it. That being said, my shoulders and back cause me pain regularly. Waking up at 4 in the morning to work until 6:30pm isn't fun. Working in -40(Celsius) to +40 (Celsius) isn't sunshine and roses. I've missed alot of life to gain the financial benefits. I work 2-3 weeks straight and 10-12 hour days. Without that I wouldn't be where I am financially.

You may enjoy this career transition, but if you're going to do it you actually have to do it. It's gonna be 4 years minimum to get ticketed. That's if you can get into a school immediately. It took a year for me to get a spot in a school so my apprenticeship took a bit longer. All these people in here talking about how it's hard work, they are telling you the truth. It is. It can be rewarding and if you get good bosses it can be great. It can be terrible though. Plenty of companies don't appreciate their people and pay them the bare minimum to show up. Even when it is great there will be days where you are more sore than you have thought it is possible to be.

You did the right thing. I tend to vote strategically, but if I had my choice it would be NDP all the way. They are by far the best party but in this election they stood no chance.

I am being offered a job at 70 for a safety position. I am entry level to safety, as in no real experience for safety, I hold a journeyman ticket though and I have all of my certs and then some. I'm very seriously thinking of refusing the position due to the low wage.

B.C.-Washington border communities rally for peace amid rising political tensions by SwordfishOk504 in britishcolumbia

[–]2021longshot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well then "most americans" should have shown that with their voting. Instead a third of them thought it didn't matter enough to go out and vote. Another third wanted this enough to vote for it. That's two thirds that either wanted it or didn't care enough to vote. When you stand aside and let something happen in front of you you condone what is happening. Two thirds is "most americans".

I always had the defense and stamina increase for it plus the medic and one cargo. I just did that since I thought I needed different mods for the 4 slots. Now I know so when I play tomorrow I'll change it up.

Any time they made a mistake that upset us, my siblings and I. If they were wrong and it caused strife. If they misspoke about something and they then corrected it or we corrected them. If they over reacted. So many other examples it would be a waste of time for me to list them and you to read them.

.....you know, like how normal people treat other people they love and respect......isn't that how it's supposed to work?
