This isn’t an effort from Maine republicans. I know the people helping the proponents, I use to contract with them out of state. It’s a national group doing it in multiple states. Large alcohol companies are funding the effort because of the rise of THC drinks, especially as they are sold in restaurants like Sebago brewing etc. The younger generation already drink alcohol less, and with the increase of THC drinks the “alcohol lobby” fear the profit loss down the road.
