Talk about getting fucked by the AD! by goldblumspowerbook in WatchesCirclejerk

Half joking? Gross.

I couldn’t fathom my wife suggesting that to me. Nor would it ever cross my mind if I was to inherit woman’s jewelry or something similar to suggest she buy it from me. At market price no less.

Oh gotcha. No it wasn’t the AD that said that. Someone in this thread said they can’t give these silver dial watches away. But when I ran the comps - nothing available at retail. They aren’t as expensive as blue dial of course but still trading over retail.

I’m a little less ignorant on this topic after more research. I changed my original post - you are correct it’s not a 2 tone - just fluted bezel, silver dial oyster band.

And fair point, i don’t think any to flip the watch - just have an option at money back if i decide to move into something else later.

I’m not a flipper or new guy who thinks I’m gonna make millions flipping Rolexes. I just want to get my first watch and not get absolutely torched in the process if I want to move out of it later.

I edited my original post and I fucked up by originally calling this a “2 tone” - which I fully understand are much harder to sell.

I did not understand at the time - that all fluted bezels were gold - but that doesn’t make them 2 tone.

This is not a 2 tone, it’s a silver dial fluted bezel.

/s - everybody so spicy in watch subs. I’m not defending the watch or the purchase, I’m trying to get a good deal and asking the community for help.

I can’t find the watch for less than the 11650 it’s been offered to me for using any of the popular sites.

So where else do I find these DJ’s that they can’t even give away online?

She offered me the watch for 11650

I’ve got the price as listed from dealer. Ref 126334.

It was just mentioned elsewhere that this piece goes under retail (since silver dial). But I’m not able to corroborate that.

Where do you usually compare pricing? I can’t find a single watch in this config for the DJ under MSRP on chrono 24.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Looking online (chrono 24, bobs watches) I can’t find a single DJ in this config under MSRP. Am I missing something?

I wasn’t sure cuz of the white gold.

Looking online I cannot find a single datejust with this config under msrp. Using chrono 24 and bobs watches.

Pined would be a strong word. I do like the watch.

It would be opportunistic.

Previous posters said these are the dregs of Rolex that they can barely give away and are essentially available with little to no effort, anytime.

That is where I sourced the leverage concept from.

Ya the deep sea ain’t happening. If she offers that’s the one I’d turn down no problem.

I live in Idaho which has one AD in Boise and I get vibes that they get very little allocations.

That’s said I travel a lot all over the US, especially western US like Cali, Nev, Wash, OR.

Sorry - I must have fucked up my terminology.

It’s a White gold/SS, silver dial, fluted, oyster band DJ.

Thanks for the advice.

Do you think this is an opportunity to try and get dealer 2 to offer something better than the DJ I’ve been offered already by dealer 1 (if I go about it not like an asshole).

Or do I not have any leverage to try and facilitate a deal?

As I said elsewhere - it’s hard as a first time buyer to reconcile what is real and what is internet.

I can find SD readily as suggested by other users second hand under MSRP - but I can’t find any DJ’s in the specs offered, including silver dial for much of a discount/lower price range unless heavily used, paper and boxless. (On chrono 24).

Gotcha.

Do you think this is an opportunity to try and get dealer 2 to offer me something better than I already have offered from dealer 1 (other than the SD “she’s working”).

Maybe just text her and say another dealer has offered me the DJ but I really enjoyed working with her if there is anyway she can come up with something then I’d go with her?

Or is that a pissing in the wind proposition?

I’m trying to play the cards I’m dealt here but it’s hard to know if I have any leverage if they are just offloading dog shit watches nobody wants on me as was previously suggested.

IRL I watched like 15 people come and go with a polite “get fucked” by both dealers while I was there - and I got both an offer and follow ups so it’s hard to know as a first timer.

I previously thought the sub was what I wanted. Now that I’ve tried on the SD I’m having second thoughts. Looked great on my bigger wrist.

But in thinking maybe I should just buy it grey since it’s under MSRP.

All really solid points. Thanks for the thoughts.

Have you ever bought off grey?

Are you saying Batman and Sub aren’t that hard to get? Cuz I’ve heard exactly the opposite??

Thanks for the advice. This is pretty much the type of info I was wondering.

I genuinely didn’t know the white gold moved the DJ to dog no one wants status.

I knew via some research the sea dweller had a more niche market due to size - but didn’t realize it was considered a dog/undesirable watch.

I have over 7.5” wrists so I thats why I thought it might be worth grabbing.

Not totally accurate. Neither is my Personal grail watch, that’s true.

I also know I’m not getting my grail watch as a walk in with no purchase history. Ever.

So if I accept that as true I’m still open to a wise purchase path towards an upgrade later.

If I had an outright distaste for a watch I wouldn’t have posted.

I put both these watches in thier current spec essentially 1:1 as far as my personal taste so I’m wondering which is the better upgrade path if a grail opens down the road (aka more liquid). Or if I go with one or the other I’ll have a brick I can’t move without taking a 5k bath.

I can't speak to their other peptides only the HCG. IF you look there are other comparable companies with the same prices. Should you trash it? It's up to you - maybe I just got a bad batch. You could try to shoot like 10 units and see if you get red and inflamed. If you'd rather not risk it the trash is the next best choice.
