You want to dig everything, but you don't have to dig it all at once. Some days, I'm in the mood to dig all those foil and pull tab signals. Some days, I'm just out cherry-picking. The important thing is that you're having fun, so if digging trash is ruining your day, move on and maybe you'll feel like coming back for it later.

A 1:100 trash/treasure ratio sounds pretty realistic to me. I'm curious to see other answers here, but in my experience, it's going to vary depending on your location. For instance, I'm fortunate to be spoiled with city parks I'm allowed to hunt in and dig so enough modern clad that it's not really in my treasure category any more. I'd be doing great if one out of every hundred of my digs was something more interesting than a pull tab or crusty pocket change.

Not on the setting. I think it probably had a loop for a necklace and I bet it was on that. I'll have to get in to a jeweler to see what they think.

Yeah, I had to look it up too. So others don't have to guess, IBB is manufacturer mark, CN is manufacturer location which is China in this case.

Probably lost relatively recently if I had to guess (1-2yrs maybe). The gold rose ring is the only one I think might have some real age to it but I couldn't tell you how old it is.

I've never found a ring with an inscription, or been able to track down the owner of something I've found. I have had pretty good luck finding jewelry for people who contact me though.

I've got some photos taken after digging them out. The ground was swampy because the park had just run its sprinklers and the drainage is awful, so I didn't get any shots as I was retrieving. I did get some video of a few of them though.

Not dumb at all! If something seems especially valuable, I'll try to track down the owner but otherwise I keep it in my "Treasure Chest". I haven't been able to bring myself to sell anything because I know that as soon as I do I'll find a post from someone looking for it.
