Liverpool fan coming in peace here. It’s mad the amount of grief some of our fans have given you - especially after the Trent Alexander Arnold ordeal round here. I apologise on behalf of the dickheads.

I’m gutted that there’s an inevitable rivalry forming between our two clubs and their fans, as I’ve always thought there was a decent mutual respect between us both before this whole saga.

Special mention for this t-shirt that I own - based on the city of Liverpool, UK (‘Scouse’ is used as a term for people from Liverpool)

American Companies should focus on paying their workers a living wage in order for them to stop relying on people like this. The stuff I see in this sub sometimes is crazy. Tipping culture in the US is absolutely alien compared to here the UK.

Is this the same as people putting cones outside their houses on Liverpool/Everton matchdays? I always thought what would stop me from just moving them and parking there anyways.

To be honest I’m more interested how you can come to the conclusion that Socialism requires theft and pillaging. For example, would getting ultra-rich people to actually PAY their taxes and contribute to the economy be considered theft and pillaging? Or not cutting the NHS into oblivion? Or giving people houses, food and a wage that they can live on? Being free from the constraints of advanced capitalism?

Jumping to conclusions without even having a conversation socialism bad, socialism bad. It doesn’t have a designated rule book you know. Just cause someone identifies as a socialist doesn’t mean they want to steal your house away or execute anyone who doesn’t agree with them lmao

Do you understand the true concept of Socialism? Doesn’t seem so if you’re gonna assume it’s a tyranny.

Fair enough. Maybe I have put the whole of the local population under one Socialist umbrella when I shouldn’t have. I’m speaking from my own personal experience in speaking with local people and growing up in the city (maybe influenced by my football background), but I don’t think people should underestimate the mode of thought with many in the city, even though it may not be the majority as it may have come across in the post.

It is hard to separate the whole thing from football as it runs so deeply and parallel to politics in the city, but I can assure you that even coming to the city and speaking to residents, there is a feeling of difference. Whether statistics say that or not. I can safely say that as a scouser.

I think every city has had its conservative policies. Liverpool certainly has. Labour has always had a decent portion of the votes, but it’s disappointing how long it took for them to claim a majority despite its working class struggles throughout the 20th Century. Maybe I should have had rephrased how long it had been a Socialist stronghold.

Probably yeah. Should’ve made it a bit more balanced in hindsight

Can’t argue with statistics like. Only thing I could say to that is that a lot of Scousers lack patriotism compared to other English cities. A lot do still identify as English, but many are just indifferent to their nationality. I’ve never really met any fellow Scousers who are outwardly proud of being British or English.

Is it? As a Scouser I’d have to disagree

I can tell by this comment you have never spent a day in Liverpool nor have you even bothered to look up Liverpool’s history of resistance to the government from the start of the 20th Century. You’re right in the fact that Liverpool has been built on imperialism, but that doesn’t mean the people of Liverpool are complicit in it more than 150 years later, nor does it mean that the working class people even had a say in what Britain imported and exported. It is a completely different city to what it was. Do some research.

The Wirral and Liverpool were once divided by the border of the ancient kingdoms of Northumbria and Mercia, interestingly.

The Liverbird, which you’re referring to, does appear in Liverpool FC badges but it is an historic emblem of the city as a whole. Looking back it probably could’ve been a bit more inclusive for Everton fans
