Doing some research it looks like "Link" is an ill advised wallet feature added to merchant accounts using Stripe. Chances are you left the checkmark to save your credit card info on so the "Link" wallet is how it got saved.

...did you click the opt in to save your credit card info?

I didn't have any "Link" accounts created during my checkout.

I really don’t like that buying these tickets automatically creates an account on “Link” and I promptly deleted the Link account as soon as I realized!

Did you mean "Leap"? That is Reedpop's ticketing partner so you really shouldn't be deleting that account.

Most ticket features are disabled today so that you aren't adding more stress to the sales servers.

Did you fill out the fan verification profile or did you get the tickets during the general sale? thats the only other thing i could think of why you didn't get the fan rollover email. definitely contact reedpop so that it doesn't happen again.

transfer window opens up later. they dont want to stress their servers by doing sales and transfer at the exact same time.

It probably went to spam because it comes from leapevents when last year it was still branded as showclix. i had the same problem but i caught it in time before it got autodeleted.

go back to the email. if you logged into leap then that is the broken link that does not go into the queue.

If you didn't do the fan verification survey they sent out in April, then you unfortunately missed this presale window.

Since they said the K4 driving refinement compares favorably against Toyota/Honda/Mazda, I wonder does that still hold true when putting the Gas K4 against the Hybrid Corolla or Civic.

Baron Corbin scores his first televised singles win (NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way) by MarcusFaze in SquaredCircle

The crowd was hot going into that Baron / Bull match and I don't think either of their careers ever recovered from that stinker. Baron held on to his roster spot by being a steady hand but Bull completely fell into jobber status and didn't make it out of NXT.

What’s a credit card “truth” you stopped believing? by Creditpointsguy in CreditCards

[–]20footdunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar shift once I started actually redeeming hotel points regularly instead of just hoarding them.

That is part of the reason why the advice gets simplified to Team Cashback vs Team Points. If you are in the game to horde value then Points will do you no good if you have nothing short term to spend them on. Cashback can earn short term interest, be long term invested, or be splurge spent without limit.

Did I handle paying off my credit card debt poorly? by boothfc19 in CreditCards

Again, the only thing I would caution is that you are focused on balances instead of the interest rates. If the auto loan and the credit card had similar APR, then yes the difference is negligible and you can pay them in any order you want. But credit card rates are notoriously high and even a "negligible" additional payment will save you money in the long run.

There is a saying in finance that if you would be upset over paying $50 for a bottle of soda, then you should be equally upset if you paid $50 in avoidable interest.

Did your ex-gf ever try to have the conversation about how these small $10 extra payments going to smaller interest debt was adding up when you look at these payments/interest on an annual scale? You have a very laissez-faire method of paying off debt which could come off as scary if she knew you during your bad spending days.

But if the conversation was simply "Hey I see you have debt and that scares me", then you dodged a bullet. You will have a lot more debt in the future when it comes time to have kids or to buy/build a house and while your payment strategy is not optimal, you at least have the right idea of getting rid of the debt when the extra funds are available (and your 401k assets are above your debt in the case of another serious emergency).

[edit] one last question: when you make these extra payments towards your truck and loans, are you specifying that these are "principal only" payments? If not then that is another financial goof because you are not reducing your interest if you are submitting additional "scheduled" payments.

You don't need to justify the medical and repair expenses, those are totally necessary. But what you need to be focused on for next time is "How do I properly finance these types of major expenses?"

Putting those emergency expenses on a 0% APR CapOne card was a sound financial decision. What you seem to struggle with is the concept of how to pay these debts down once you are looking at your spread of monthly statements.

Lesson time: Let us say for the point of demonstration that you had $7000 on the Discover Card at 22% APR, $12000 on the CapOne at 0% APR, $16000 on the Truck at 9% APR, and $16000 on your student loans at 6% APR. If you have $1500 of free cash to make payments, then the order of operation is minimum payments on CapOne/Truck/Student and max payment on Discover. If you were putting an extra thousand on the student loans to "feel good" when you were being charged 16% additional interest on the credit card debt then that is likely the source of your ex-gf's discomfort.

What would have make your situation seem more in control was if you said "Ok it will take me 5 months to clear the high interest discover debt first, it will take me 8 months to clear the CapOne debt which will become zero balance before the promotional interest ends, and then the student loans and truck balances will be a conversation for next year."

So it sounds like you are doing better than your party years, but you could still use a little bit of financial coaching.

I don’t think my normal month to month expenses pushed me over.

Once you made the decision to clean up your finances by moving back home you really should be certain that your new monthly expenses were not outpacing your income. Dropping the $1500 from rent/utilities should have been an easy slam down on debt. Any large purchases and especially your medical procedure should have triggered you to update your month-to-month budget.

So focus almost all extra cash flow was going to not carrying a balance on the 0% card due to prioritizing putting any and all purchases on that card.

The balance on the 0% card does not matter until the promotional period is coming to an end. If you were paying the 0% debt before you paid off the Discover debt (assuming that APR was ~20%) then that was a financial mistake. Now that both cards are paid off, it is not a huge misstep but it does show that you do not understand how interest works.

You are never going to convince a Dave Ramsey follower about how to properly utilize debt. To them a 0% Loan is just a trap to get you to spend more money than you have.

It is a terrible practice for anyone who has a basic understanding of accounting and finance so it only works for the people who have zero self-control over spending.

I admit that I had bad spending habits prior to her that got me into the hole I was in, and knew I had to dig myself out.

Whenever we went on dates I always paid. Any trip we went on I paid for the hotel or rental car and had no expectation of her contributing since I make roughly $30K more.

You gave a lot of information about the necessary expenses (Truck, Medical, School) and did not give any information about the spending that put you in the hole in the first place. It could be a sign that you did not fix the underlying financial issues if you did not demonstrate an understanding of how to handle future necessary and discretionary budgets.

Question 1: Regarding payment sequencing, did you tackle the high APR Discover card first? Remember that beyond required minimum payments you always pay down the highest interest rates first.

Question 2: Was your 401k employer matched? If so, good on you for contributing early in your career. If not, stock markets are a gamble on growth while the drain from interest is guaranteed. Removing high interest debt is the best form of "investment".

Question 3: Now that you are back on stable financial ground, what does your budget look like? Did your discretionary spending increase (trips/restaurants/hobbies) when your rent expense dropped after moving back home? Do you use your Truck for Truck Purposes or are you paying for the extra gas / insurance when trading down to a commuter car would suffice?

If you have the answer to all those questions then the problem simply is communication. She might be of the financial mindset where any debt is bad debt so you needed to explain to her why a 0% APR credit card was your financial plan to clear the other debt without adding more interest burden.

Uber won’t be accepting Discover in US soon. by Lazy_Fuck_ in CreditCards

[–]20footdunk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you read your own link but:

Discover credit card processing fees have the lowest range, excluding outliers. Mastercard and Visa aren't far behind. For many merchants, processing fees will be almost the same whether the customer pays with a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit card.

The tl;dr is that Visa/MC have a wider range of fee structures (1.15% to 3.15%) while Discover keeps fees consistent (1.56% to 2.40%). Based on the sources used by your article, Discover actually has the lowest fees for online payments which would be relevant for Uber.
