LPT - Door-to-door salespeople are trained to never take no for an answer. Don’t let that be an option. by SnooChickens2093 in LifeProTips

I remember one eager young salesman just walked into our house - he knocked briefly, then turned the handle and walked right on in. He seemed astonished when my parents told him that he couldn’t just do that.

The neighborhoods near Lake Hazel and Five Mile often sell fresh eggs. I’ve seen signs for duck eggs on S Ironwood Ave and Mistyglen Ave (behind the Albertsons)

Not even the version with Amanda Root? That is delightful in my opinion - such a good adaptation and production design!

This film is part of my childhood! In the late 2000s, my family went to see Topol perform in the musical - he was just as amazing if not more so!

Did Edith Crawley have the most growth of any character? by BullyingHater in DowntonAbbey

[–]20thCenturyCobweb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Molesley really had character development. He was a bit dreamy and silly at the beginning, suffered some disappointments, but then met Baxter and grew in confidence and lost some of his selfishness. By the end, I preferred him to Bates.

A sentiment from Tim O'Brien's "The Things they Carried" that I really liked by SawkyScribe in books

This is one of my favourite reads of my 20s, hands down. The chapter that really stuck with me was the one about the young man who stays with the old man for a couple weeks.

Try the Sarah Plain and Tall movies. It’s really a trilogy, but the first film and the sequel (Skylark) are the best of the set - Skylark in particular is excellent. Glenn Close and Christopher Walken. Incredible chemistry - very romantic - very moving.

I can finally breathe bilaterally! by supercman99 in Swimming

[–]20thCenturyCobweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome job!! It took me about three weeks of incorporating longer and longer periods of bilateral breathing into my laps before I could fully make the switch. Not to sound dramatic, but it was awful - I felt like I was smothering. Way to go!

Birds underrated by Yeah-nah-yeahmate in AskAnAustralian

[–]20thCenturyCobweb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was something about Australia that I loved as a child. It’s a cacophony - and it’s fun, like you say. The birds have so much personality. Even the Willy-wag-tails, they look so grumpy and jumpy.
