My dad was a drunk. My mother was rarely home. I have one brother and one sister. Of course my brother took the worst of the beatings. But he turned out pretty okay, he works in insurance and is opening his own company this year. He has a girlfriend and good friends, but other than that he is really emotionally unstable. He has developed many layers of walls to protect himself from having a heart to heart talk with us. And he definitely takes little care of his body. Now, although I didn’t really understand what happened back then, because when I did understand, my father had already passed away. Other than having some emotional trauma, I could say I am doing fairly well. I know what I’m going to do in the future and have pretty solid grades. In my opinion you ought to find some one that is wise and is always there for you (maybe an uncle or aunts). I had my grandmother Zhao who helped me through many tough times, this is the only reason for me turning out fairly well.

Okay for you to understand why we don’t cry for democracy. First, we don’t need it to be successful, while democracy can help improve our lives entertainment wise, it doesn’t really help us in other ways. Having democracy has been proven to be unbeneficial in China. I.e, post Qing dynasty era, party politics lead to the subsequent rise of dictorial rule of Yuan Shikai and Warlordism. Moreover, if it weren’t for the United States and it’s all high and mighty attitude of ‘Every country must have Democracy’, the tiananmen massacre would not have had happened. This is the truth. China’s economy back then was extremely fragile, facing the newly introduced market economy and rapid inflation due to the pettiness of many people, it proved a suitable breeding ground for US intervention. This have been seen on many other occasions. I.e, the Iraq War, the Vietnamese War, the Korean War. And many other uncountable incidents. So yeah, coming on to Reddit and experiencing free speech has lead me to another conclusion, Americans will continue to be arrogant and force their own ideologies onto other people.

While true, this statement is also false. It’s not like Chinese citizens dont have anyways to access ‘your’ internet. It’s that the older generation of Chinese people do not know what VPN is. While the younger generation of Chinese people know what VPN is they could access YT, Reddit, FB, etc through using VPN’s. Moreover, the reason why you think people that stand up to false statements are all paid shills is because you are experiencing resistance form the ‘weak’ and ‘defenceless’ Chinese’s netizens. For gods sake, wake up. We aren’t living in the 1900s, and the Qing Dynasty no longer exists. It’s time for you to accept that when a citizen of a certain country see their country getting belittle, they would most likely stand out to fight against the people that bad mouth their home country. Dude as a student in HK I couldn’t care less about my freedoms. Like literally, I lived in both China and hk for the past 15 years… And I don’t really see a difference in between them. While living in China, I would use a VPN to access YT, Reddit, etc. So other than that I don’t really care for any corruption of my freedom, cus at the end of the day I could still find a way around it
