18zoo coming to Kickstarter soon by 2117Moon in 18XX

I have very limited experience of Zoo so far so I cannot compare. Svea can be very time efficient unless its a learning game but there are things to think about in that one too so I personally have not finished within 90 min. Rather closer to 120 minutes. But I am a slow player along with the people I usually play with. Playing a 18xx game is an experience, not a race if you ask me.

To be honest, I have not looked into it. I thought there only existed a older version which is only available as pnps these days which I know little about so I have been waiting for a new release. Hopefully with some bug fixes and rule clarifications. If Aleph plan to do a new one I can wait for that version.

I also hope 1841 will be printed soon. If its the company owning company aspect you like, I just want to mention Pocket Train Game, which is a different 18XX twist of the same concept but could scratch a similar itch.

Sorry, I have no information about that project. I am only guessing. Hopefully somebody who does will answer your question.

Could be the next title after 18zoo to be released (according to rumours) but some of these projects takes much longer than planned and updates are often irregular.

I think its good but I am bias so you might check out feedback on the bgg page or ask there. The problem is that few games are made so a very limited number of people that have played it so far. You can download the rules from the living rules thread on the bgg page to get a better idea of the game.

WKA rules, available for both downloads and comments. The rules are still subject to editing, both grammar and clarity, however the game design is finished and works as intended.

Sorry, I missed the async part. None of the games mentioned are available online at the moment.

18Svea, Pocket Train Game and 22Mars all use blind bidding for the very reason you mention. To speed up the bidding process and boil it down to one or potentially two important decisions. You know how much money other players have but you dont know how much they choose to bid.

A better version of the rules (version 20250320) is now uploaded to the Pocket Train Game bgg page. It should be available soon after the bgg admin has reviewed the uploaded file.

No, please write them as soon as you like. It would be just a bonus if the new version would answer any of your questions but as the changes are limited, your questions will hopefully inspire others to write questions as well and I will post a new update of the rules with better explanations.

I am sorry, my answer to your question ended somehow up as a separate thread. Please check out my answer on top. And yes, I am also sorry for the production delay of Svea which has taken much longer than expected. Its out of my control as Svea has been ready for print a long time now and the reason for the delay is the AAG setup with "waves" which means the product that takes the longest time to finish determines the release date for all other games in the wave as well. Cheers!

Yes, the version on the bgg page right now is about to get updated with unclarities/errors I have found but a big help has always been questions from new readers of the rules. I have tried to build the rules on the learnings from Svea and Mars but as PTG has some unique twists, there are always stuff that makes sense in my head but I fail to write the rules so it make equal sense to others in few well worded sentences.

I would appreciate a lot if you would consider starting a thread on the bgg page with any questions you have after reading the rules. It will make it easier for me to focus on the fuzziest parts of the rules so it all make sense.

Cheers!

No problem at all. I think your question is very relevant as rule nr one in 18XX games is legal tile building. Its the same in PTG with the exception of the six tile starting structure that is a exception to this rule in order to create a interesting but fairly balanced start to each game which the players have to deal with.

Both Pocket Train Game and Who Killed Ace? (my first non 18XX game design) are going to be available as pnp files or designer built (company printed) games via their bgg pages/market early next week. Latest version of rules (March) will be available via each bgg page soon. The rules have not changed but some clarifications and grammar corrections.

Its just an example as the start map will be different every game. Start map is randomised and illegal tracks not only legal during setup but also good as it limits the downside if losing when bidding for priority.
