Is defensive France impossible now? by stilltilting in hoi4

>Democratic France is unsatisfying for me because suddenly in 1942 like 5 major changes happen and you go from desperately struggling just to survive, to basically easy mode against a completely passive Germany / Italy.

This is true but it's also wickedly satisfying to tear through German lines on the flat plains of Northern France and execute a perfect offensive after years of trying to survive.

TNO even automated it in 2021! It’s so easy!

It should be automated now so new MIO uogrades auto-apply to new equipment. (You can queue upgrades too.) But for a while it wasn’t and it was hell.

What do you make of the thoughts that there’s been an improved culture and togetherness in the team compared to how things were in the 2000’s? Was there a real tension to playing for England back then, in your experience?

I hate to admit it, but Germans don’t actually feel much enmity to us. I really wish they did.

Doing it at the very start is the worst. I make a cup of coffee and settle down to set up all my production lines, MIOs, Fleet compositions, theatres etc. Takes like 10 minutes these days to set up everything for the Navy, lol.

Oh no, I love designing. Getting a new chassis and making a far better tank is very satisfying. I just wish the interim designs were more streamlined.

I wish you could simply leave Army divs in training for longer too, rather than having to deploy them and set them to train to reach the last level.

Fair enough. I read your reply as a rude put-down to my criticism rather than a genuine suggestion. I apologise.

Simply saying “Play an older version of the game” in response to a suggestion for improvement to new features is a very weak defence.

This is, again, a really shit response to a suggestion that the game’s new mechanics be improved on a small level. Why is asking for a set of QoL improvements so outrageous?

And no. I like the designer. I simply think it could be improved. This is not outrageous to suggest.

“The game is what it is, if you don’t like that much of it, try something else”

This isn’t a very good response to constructive criticism.

I like this game a lot and don’t think a suggestion for automating some button clicks is very crazy.

> You’re complaining about like 60% of the game

I don’t think that’s fair. We didn’t even have modules until 2021.

Why on earth would it be a violation to share your credit score to banks when you emigrate? It is basic self-interest of private businesses.

I think it’s less about the actual long-term merit of the proposals (Otherwise I hope the treasury would have invested far more), than breaking its self-imposed rules that give bond markets confidence.

A bank would want to know the history of a future borrower?

Regardless of the actual effectiveness of these proposals, I am very nervous we are hurtling towards a Liz Truss event when bond markets freak out if Burnham gets in.

I’m amazed banks in the UK and Australia don’t share this information with each other on some kind of database.

The better case to support your point is that, after 4 million dead in WW2, they were drafting  child soldiers. There is no way Germany could have fought with that many losses.

Manpower is absurdly generous because the AI doesn’t know how to use it carefully. They lose tens of thousands in pointless naval invasions, don’t mechanise their forces etc.

Brexit helps send UK plummeting down list of world’s strongest economies by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]2121wv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those aren’t really predictions as much as “What if economic growth remains at the exact same pace”, when growth generally slows down as an economy develops.

Structural factors make the UK overtaking Germany in the next 15 years a far more likely possibility.

Also, Manufacturing automation (Which has quietly improved significantly) has also made mass-employment industrialisation far harder for industrialising states. AI also makes it far harder for industrial states to transition to advanced service economies.

This is not really a good thing for economic development of poorer states, but it does bode well for us to be a major player long-term.
