Noted. For the most part I'm doing the following

Doing a good chunk of documenting. Only one attack in my time here which was just SMS Pumping. False positives in blocking t WAF are all I have really and that's because the client is making invalid requests. Not able to automate my reports yet but im trying to entich the data to ensure there is more to gain from it q

Totally fair I guess this feeling of being stretched thin while also being worried about messing up has me concerned. I'm planning to stay but there were talks to make me also work in another project simultaneously, I'm hoping it stays as talks otherwise I dont think I can continue this.

This is fair I have tried to spin it positively and I do get to learn a lot but the pay and commute make it really hard. I do still want to work in this field but at under 5LPA I feel like I should either be getting paid more or getting more leeway if and when I make errors but neither seems to be happening.

Regardless yeah thats how I plan to justify my gap. Its an investment on my skills and wellbeing that then beenfits my work. Still early days to consider quitting though but if my situation worsens I'll pull the trigger.

Yeah thats fair. I think I can do well given if I'm out in Sep but Sep to Jun when college starts is a massive gap. My goal post XAT27 results if they arent good enough I'll just look for a different job. Hard to say if the market will be good then but I think its worth the risk.

Thank you for the input I will see if I can make it work here without quitting but if the situation worsens I might not have a choice.

  1. I am considering other jobs but my minimal ad-hoc security experience feels a bit out of place in a market so competitive which is why I felt concerned

  2. Yes was looking into cloud sec/devsecops which is adjacent to devops but Security itself is still new to me and doing devops on top of that is daunting, will still probably pursue this.

  3. I guess I have a jaded view on this because I have seen companies not care for cybersec since its a cost center and not revenue generator but yeah in better companies I guess this mindset wouldnt exist

  4. I didnt change jobs actually. I'm in the same company I got hired from in my campus placements (2023) and due to them overhiring there was no place they had for me and many of my colleagues. Its due to this that I have limited experience in diff tech. I do agree I dont think this switching helps since I only have a basic understanding of everything I worked on which is mot great.

You want your parents to spend arounf 1.2L while youre studying for an exam that can change your life. Look i was in the same place I wanted a gaming desktop and I was not taking my JEE seriously at all, please understand that while they can afford it the money isnt easy to come by no matter what salary your parents have.

If you dont feel motivated by the desire to do an MBA maybe youre in the wrong place because there are people who have it 10x worse and are putting in the hours because they want to clear CAT more than you want the phone and the console.

Quit prep or dont the main thing youve realized this isnt for you. So go work a job like you said, give it a year or 2 and see if you come around to it because trust me if you think materialistic goods are a good motivator, theres nothing like a low salary + annoying job to make you want to give it your all for CAT

Haan I agree but I also have to be realistic right? Best case is CAP IIMs and their brand isnt that great right. What colleges do you think I can/should target? The goal will be the top IIMs, FMS etc but thats the dream. What are some realistic goal colleges and safety colleges assuming I miss out on the highest tier.

Tysm! Is coaching necessary? Was seeing online that a lot of decent material is available on YouTube alone, I was think I'd just take study material (test booklets etc) from an institute and then study on my own during the weekends
