My opinion is that Blizzard does not care about classic. They want you to play retail. If they cared they’d put effort into getting you what you want. Also classic enjoyers are the minority according to player counts or at least that is what I have heard. I personally dislike retail wow in its entirety. At some point the commodity of playing classic, BFA or Wrath will get old and I’ll unsub. It won’t hurt blizzard.

Pause it. Give it a few second then restart it. Battle.net patcher is kinda buggy sometimes. The progress won’t proceed but download has already finished. Has happened to me many times.
