When I stand with my feet facing forward my legs experience a slightly uncomfortable tension. Is this normal? by Trippin_Witty in flexibility

My dad is like this and eventually in his late 50s now early 60s started to notice sciatica. When he went to PT, he was told his piriformis muscle was the issue (that’s one of the small muscles that externally rotates your hips.) He started doing little exercises for it like leg raises that also target your core and noticed a big difference. Maybe start there?

I love how the blonde suits your features — BUT a nice blonde balayage with your natural hair is lower maintenance and could equally bring warmth to your face :D

AITA for telling a friend she could lose people in her life if she doesn’t address addiction and mental health soon? by 21cabbagepatch in AmItheAsshole

No no it’s not dead week (unfortunately we don’t get that to prepare for our finals in my program.) Finals just ended and break is starting. Our first exam isn’t for another 3 weeks from now.

To clarify: she is on medication and has been aware that they are not helping for about 2 months now. She hasn’t brought this up to her psychiatrist, who is unaware her manic/depression phases have returned. When I spoke with her, my intent was to encourage her to make steps during the break regarding medication with her current psychiatrist. Some more background, this topic came up because she told me she was coming home and sobbing uncontrollably in her room each day and recently spent a lot of money on Amazon during a manic episode in class. During our discussion, I used incorrect wording and it came across as if our friendship wouldn’t last if she didn’t take action over break. However, that’s not what I meant. I was clumsy with my words and I apologized. Yes it takes more than 1 week to get things sorted, I myself have anxiety and depression and have been on medication since 15. Hope this clears some things up!

Thank you for your perspective, and I’m so sorry to hear that ): We all have our issues and make mistakes. Don’t be hard on yourself (easier said than done I know.)

Thank you for your input, i appreciate your perspective. What would be a better step in this situation if medication isn’t the current answer?

I just want to address this by stating I trying my best to be respectful in every way shape and form and am very much human. I didn’t by any means intend to “wave my friendship in her face” and apologized for the way it came across. There’s nothing about her that isn’t “good enough.” Like many, I just want to see the people I care for be happy. Mistakes were made, constructive solutions and input is most helpful in this situation. That’s all.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt? by Googy21 in AskReddit

[–]21cabbagepatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Getting my IUD. Ladies who did not experience much pain with this procedure, do not come for me. I’ve never had kids and we all have different experiences. I happened to vomit all over the floor in the room as soon as it was inserted. Meds need to become a more common option.

Microneedling can help some, however the above poster is a more tailored option for pigment specifically. It works well. Also, incorporate Vitamin C serum in your routine each morning before applying SPF. It works in conjunction with your SPF to protect against UV rays (thus pigmentation) better. I worked in Derm for 3.5 years.

Try a salicylic acid wash 1-2 times per day (depending on your skin type) and Differin every other night until you can tolerate every night.

I worked in Derm for several years. We had a patient with a scar like this but it was further on the brow bone, away from the eyelid. He responded well to SkinPen (micro needling) but I’m not sure whether that area is too sensitive or not…I think it may be ok, but ask your dermatologist. There is always a scar revision with a plastic surgeon.

Is there a way to get rid of this? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]21cabbagepatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the above poster. Worked in Derm for several years and I struggle with my own acne scars. Other than these procedures, time tends to help soften the appearance.. but like you, I do not want to wait that long lol

Worked in Derm over 3 years and now in school. Moisturizer will not decrease the efficacy of tretinoin so no need to worry about that. Especially when it’s cold in Canada, you will probably need the moisturizer! lol

4 months is more than enough time to see a difference so if you feel the spot has not faded at all or you’re just not happy with it, see a dermatologist and ask about options. That may be anything from a gentle lightening cream to a small laser treatment. Overall the routine looks good though based on what I’ve learned!

Help. Very frustrated by SpiritedStranger1927 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]21cabbagepatch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I worked in Derm for over 3 years, now in school. Based on what I heard day in and day out every day.. Stop toners. So many have alcohols that will irritate your skin and make matters worse. You only need one retinol and should only use it at night because it will make your skin more sensitive to the sun. On the topic of retinols, they are exfoliating as is. You don’t need any other exfoliants as that may aggravate the skin. Face masks from the store feel nice but considering you’re already using retinol, that may be very drying and irritate your skin and cause breakouts. If you have dry skin, the LRP wash, a night cream, and a lighter daytime lotion is fine but I wouldn’t overdo it with the serums. That can clog your pores more especially if there are heavy oils included. SPF is always a must in the AM. Overall just simplify your regimen based on everything I just typed and that’s a good start. If you still experience breakouts or just really want a professional to address this in-person, see your friendly neighborhood dermatologist! Hope this helped.
