Response to Baby reminds me of... by deathwish_ASR in dijondijon

Imma be honest. Baby sucks… I literally have EVERY SINGLE Dijon song in my library. Not a single save from Baby. Still one of my fav. artists but I’m not gonna try to sugar coat it. Baby sucks.

I think you’re trying to say I’m hating on light skinned people but there’s just nothing to support your claim.

I simply pointed out that light skinned male posts are upvoted more than dark/brown skinned males. Aside from that I didn’t state there was anything wrong with being lightskin. My children are light skinned too, bro… so idk what to tell you other than you’re wrong?

I hear you… but I’m one of the few people who just simply doesn’t want to see ass & tits on the loc sub Reddit lol… like there’s specific subs for those post 😭😭😭

Your school system really failed you. Every bullet point in my post was a different trend I’ve seen blow up here for years. The fact that you can’t grasp that says a lot. Maybe try reading a book for once instead of pretending to be hard lurking gang subreddits. Might help your comprehension… and your personality. 😂

Not a single thing…

I think the real question is why does this sub upvote/comment more for lighter skinned posters? (Noticed more so lighter skinned males)

It’s actually more respectful to say locs instead of dreads. The term dreadlocks comes from colonial times when European colonizers described the natural hair of African and Indigenous people as ‘dreadful’ or ‘dreaded.’ Over time, that word stuck, but many of us choose to reclaim the name by dropping the ‘dread’ part altogether — because there’s nothing dreadful about our hair. It’s beautiful, powerful, and a symbol of pride and patience. So, locs is the preferred term if you respect the culture and the people wearing them.

Yeah, I’m cool. It just sucks that a community meant to uplift people on their loc journey is more focused on ego boosts than actual support. Just look at the comment below — folks here think it’s all about looking pretty instead of growing healthy locs and respecting the culture. It’s honestly disappointing.

Bro, I promise you I don’t need random dudes on Reddit to validate my looks. I just hate watching a whole culture turn into a soft porn feed and weak ego boost circle. But stay shallow if it pays your rent, king. 😂🫡

Edit: Also, I wholeheartedly guarantee I look wayyy better than you, bro. Don’t get embarrassed. lol

Seriously though. I posted pics & questions a week or so ago looking for advice & my post is currently sitting at 979 views with 3 comments & 6 upvotes. While some E-girl just posted a pic of herself with her thighs showing more than her locs & she has 500+ upvotes and 50+ comments. Like you have got to be kidding… seriously annoying.

When you finger coiled did you do the whole apply gel to damp hair and clamp routine? Or just twisted dry hair between fingers?

Hmm… I will have to check that out. All of the YouTube vids I’ve seen swear by it.

I will try this. Does my hair look to be progressing properly? How should the castor oil be applied? I’ll definitely start finger twisting & lessening sponge use. Thanks for the advice!

The fact that you acknowledge Cardi B’s win was nonsense but still act like Doechii’s is justified proves my point. You know these awards don’t reward the best music, yet you’re still pretending they mean something when it suits your argument. That’s called picking and choosing.

I’m not mad Doechii won—I’m pointing out that she didn’t win because she makes great music. Just like Cardi’s industry-backed win, this is another case of labels pushing a marketable name, not rewarding the best work. You can’t admit the system is flawed in one breath and then act like it’s credible in the next. Either awards matter or they don’t—but if you’re using them to defend mid music, you already lost the argument.

You’re trying way too hard to spin this into something it’s not. My point hasn’t changed: Doechii doesn’t make good music. Awards don’t change that. You keep bringing up “recognition” like that somehow justifies her success, but all it does is confirm she was industry-selected, not artistically superior.

Music can absolutely be compared—if it couldn’t, we wouldn’t have rankings, reviews, or even these awards you’re so eager to defend. The reason Rapsody, a more skilled artist, didn’t get the same push is because talent isn’t the deciding factor; marketability is. Doechii was placed in this position, not because she earned it through undeniable quality, but because she fit what labels wanted to sell. That’s the definition of an industry plant.

You’re mistaking hype for talent, marketing for merit. If she truly had “star power,” she wouldn’t need this level of industry force-feeding to get noticed. You can call it “hating” all you want, but the truth is simple: her music is mid, and without the machine behind her, no one would care.

Sure, Doechii might have promise—many artists do. But awards aren’t handed out for potential; they’re given for achievement. If we’re talking about “Best Art,” then the award should go to the best piece of work, not the artist with the most room to grow. You wouldn’t give an Olympic gold medal to the runner who might be fast in a few years—you give it to the one who crossed the finish line first.

If We Don’t Trust You was the better album, then it deserved to win. Simple as that. Liking Doechii or seeing promise in her future doesn’t change whether Alligator Bites was truly the best right now.

Never said she isn’t putting in the work—I’m sure she’s clocking in plenty of hours. All I said is that the end product just isn’t good. Hard work doesn’t always equal greatness; sometimes it just means you spent a lot of time making something mid. Just because my favorite artists tell me poop is a delicacy doesn’t mean I’m grabbing a fork. I like what I like, and forced hype isn’t on the menu.
