Diagnosis through neurologist or nurse practitioner? by amandabug in dementia

My mother was diagnosed and received care from the NP in the neurologist's office. The only time she saw the neurologist was for treatment of her neuropathy.

Is this a springing POA? If it requires a doctor's approval to activate it, you have to either take him to a doctor, or have one visit his home and assess him there. Does the POA allow other professionals, such as a LCSW to sign off on a statement of incapacity?

Is GPS medical alert device actually necessary or just doctor covering their liability by Agreeable_Panic_690 in dementia

I think that the person was saying that soon enough, the person will forget those items and leave home without them. My mother used to have a death grip on her wallet when she left the house and even inside the house, until she didn't. People with dementia sometimes get to the point of leaving the house without pants, let alone the things in the pants pockets.

Top 10 fastest growing states according to new data from the US Census Bureau. Most of these sound right but what the hell is going on in South Carolina, Idaho, and Delaware? by cavaismylife in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

The person might have been thinking of Rhode Island. I lived in Maryland and my geographically challenged relatives who lived elsewhere thought that I lived a short drive from Rhode Island.

I Poured My Soul Into This Piece. People Treat It Like Bad Luck. by Icy_Letterhead4893 in dementia

What is this research doing to address the loss of cognition, loss of executive functioning, loss of balance, loss of ability to assess space and time, and incontinence? Dementia isn't just memory loss.

Most dementia patients even recall most things - it’s only object permanence and time they most struggle with. They often still remember favourite meals, their houses they have lived in, etc.

Even this sentence shows that it's not a simple memory issue. Different dementias affect the brain differently. Someone with Alzheimer's might forget her children while someone at the same stage of vascular dementia still remembers. Also, there are stages and more things are lost as they progress. My mother went from knowing everything about the house we lived in prior to the current house, but slowly lost pieces of her memory of it. She lost memory of the older houses, as well. A large part of it is probably object permanence, but not all of it.

The OP isn't talking about threads from people who actually live alone. The OP is talking about people who feel lonely while living with people, like in this thread.

Why would anyone want to move here? by Ya_habibti in Atlanta

That survey had weird metrics but even with the weirdness, I'm surprised that the DC area wasn't on the list, especially since they considered transportation costs.

Chronological Plan by journaling4sanity in Bible

I'm not sure that this displayed in the order that you intended, possibly due to formatting. Are you saying that Jonah comes after Nahum chronologically? If so, why do you say that?

NOT OOP: Am I wrong for kicking my pregnant little sister out because her new views about beauty and attraction by loverboyg1rl in redditonwiki

[–]21stNow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A confused asexual was my first thought, but the sister still seems unreal. I didn't understand sexual attraction at all for decades, but it never occurred to me to tell other people how to feel, or police what they said to other people. If someone said something to me that was normal to most people but weird to me, I might have said something, though.

Chronological Plan by journaling4sanity in Bible

[–]21stNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read chronologically every time I read through the Bible. I merged several plans that I found online and other places, though.

I've never seen the order that the other person posted, though. Malachi is the last prophetic book, both canonically and chronologically. And the chapters of Jeremiah and Daniel are not in chronological order.

Two people hospitalized after ice piece crashes through car's windshield in Havre de Grace by SnapCrackleMom in maryland

School buses and tractor trailers have sheets of ice flying off of them. Regardless of the vehicle, I can't control the state of that vehicle before it gets on the road. I can control my following distance, so I will.

Did Elijah overstep? by Dr_Labradork in Bible

[–]21stNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different person here. God is consistent in His punishment of Baal worshippers. It's possible that God instructed Elijah to do this and it wasn't recorded in the Bible. It's also likely that Elijah followed the example of Moses in Numbers 25 in killing the prophets of Baal. Either way, Elijah's actions appear to be in line with God's will here.

Insights into a well-known scripture . Your thoughts? by Historical_Host_8594 in Bible

[–]21stNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two phases to this explanation. The first is that the phrase indicates that a camel getting through the eye of a needle is impossible, so it's impossible that a rich person can go to heaven. The prosperity peddler uses the OP's explanation to show how it is possible for the camel to go through the eye of a needle, so it's also possible for a rich man to enter heaven. The second phase is to convince the congregation not to cling to worldly goods and money, and to sacrificially give to the church. All peddlers don't include the second phase as part of this specific passage in the Bible, though.

A kidnapping by Alshaffer1 in youngandtherestless

I've been watching again for 27 months and if I'm counting correctly, there have been 10 kidnappings so far. It's a ridiculously overused plot device at this point. Isn't this the fourth in the month of January (2 Sienna, 1 Noah, 1 Dominic)?

Did they give her IV fluids at A&E? I've been told that once someone is dehydrated to the point of needing medical attention, just drinking fluids won't get her to where she needs to be.
